cfbpeoplespoll Ballot for 2023 Week 5

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Sept. 25, 2023, 5:32 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Last week of hybrid polling. Still a bit of poll inertia from the preseason, but human adjustment has made it a little more “true” to game performances. Going forward the poll will be based solely on on-field performances.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs
Texas Longhorns
Ohio State Buckeyes Weird performance on the road a really good Notre Dame. Defense looks legit, offense still needs to answer QB questions before UM and PSU.
Michigan Wolverines
USC Trojans
Florida State Seminoles
Washington Huskies Offense looks legit, will see when they play tougher teams going forward.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Oregon Ducks Manhandled a talent disadvantaged Colorado team. Truer tests will come up in the conference schedule as the schedule advances.
Utah Utes Winning behind an elite defense while the QB situation is still up in the air.
North Carolina Tar Heels
LSU Tigers
Duke Blue Devils
Alabama Crimson Tide Good win at home against a pesky Ole Miss team. Defense looks great and offense looked a little more serviceable.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Coaching blunders towards the end soured a otherwise tough performance.
Washington State Cougars Good game against a good team. Cam Ward is legit.
Oklahoma Sooners
Miami Hurricanes
Fresno State Bulldogs Best G5 team, but still some questions remain.
Ole Miss Rebels
Maryland Terrapins
Kansas Jayhawks Great performance at home against a BYU team that I think is underrated.
Syracuse Orange
Missouri Tigers
Florida Gators Next 10: 26 - Kentucky 27 - Oregon State 28 - Tulane 29 - Louisville 30 - Tennessee 31 - Colorado 32 - Wisconsin 33 - Kansas State 34 - TCU 35 - Texas A&M
