MemeLovingLoser Ballot for 2023 Week 5

Ballot Type: Computer

Submitted: Sept. 24, 2023, 10:50 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Based on team statistics in each game, with each category being weighted differently, and more recent games having more weight to bring it more inline with human polls. Poll considers the 12 most recent games a team has played (including prior year and bowls), with prior year games and games against FCS schools being given less weight (poor performance still hurts, but "good stats" not nearly as much). Weightings may be tweaked season-to-season, but not mid-season. Teams must have played 12 games as an FBS school to qualify for a ranking.

Rank Team Reason
Penn State Nittany Lions 78.00
Michigan Wolverines 76.74
Washington Huskies 75.28
Oregon Ducks 73.21 Oregon being better at getting sacks, and their Strength of Schedule being higher by them not playing an FCS school gave them the edge over Georgia.
Georgia Bulldogs 73.04 Having a recent FCS game is going to hurt them for a couple more weeks.
Texas Longhorns 72.79
Oklahoma Sooners 70.26
USC Trojans 70.15
Florida State Seminoles 69.95
Ohio State Buckeyes 69.78
North Carolina Tar Heels 66.89
Fresno State Bulldogs 66.76 Good turnover performance, margin of victory, and not having lost yesterday shot them up over ND.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 66.75 Their loss to Ohio State was not as painful to them as I would have thought. Go back to wearing blue and they can recover form this.
Utah Utes 66.63
Air Force Falcons 65.98
Duke Blue Devils 65.68
Alabama Crimson Tide 65.37
Louisville Cardinals 64.24
TCU Horned Frogs 63.42
Kansas State Wildcats 62.57
Washington State Cougars 62.42
Liberty Flames 62.32
Texas A&M Aggies 62.26
LSU Tigers 61.97
Ohio Bobcats 61.82 Their SoS may be weak, but their Defense is really holding it down, and they are well disciplined and are not drawing penalties.
