Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: Now that were past the mid-point of the season, it's strictly game film, opponents, and articles written for the games I either chose to miss or couldn't watch.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Last Week #1 vs Florida Won 42-20. A dominant win for the Bulldogs and this game was over going into half already up four TDs. Nice warm up for the Volunteers. This Week vs #3 Tennessee. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Last Week #2 at #16 Penn State Won 44-31. Very shaky first three quarters for the Buckeyes (similar to the Notre Dame game week 1) but turned on the rockets for the 4th quarter as they went on a 28-3 run from 9:19 left to 2:42 left in the game. Buckeyes need to fix these slow starts in big games before going to Maryland then the Big Game vs Michigan for the last two games of the season, or it could be a rough landing for the Buckeyes in 2022. This Week at Northwestern. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Last Week #3 vs #18 Kentucky Won 44-6. Honestly this is Tennessee's most impressive win so far. Kentucky has a solid defense and solid run game, but Tennessee's offense and defense just rolled over the Wildcats. My top 3 are really all tied for 1st but since this is the order that they came into the week, this is the order that they will leave. This Week at #1 Georgia. |
| Clemson Tigers | Last Week #4 had a Bye Week. This Week at Notre Dame (Clemson is my upset pick of this week). |
| Michigan Wolverines | Last Week #5 vs Michigan State Won 29-7. I don't know what it is with these B1G schools and slow starts, but after losing the first quarter 3-7, the Wolverines rallied off 26 straight points and allowed only 118 yards after the TD drive in the 1st quarter. I feel like Michigan vs Ohio State is going to be single-digit scoring until the 3rd quarter then both teams will drop bombs until one comes out as the victor. This Week at Rutgers. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Last Week #6 at West Virginia Won 41-31. Outside of one mistake, Duggan (TCU's QB) continues to play great (341 yards with 3 TD), and it looks like he will need to continue to play that way with TCU's defense allowing 31 PPG in conference play so far. The only undefeated without a great or elite defense, but easily the most fun team to watch in my top 25 right now. This Week vs Texas Tech. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Last Week #7 had a Bye Week. This Week at #17 LSU (Alabama is my lock of the week to win). |
| Oregon Ducks | Last Week #8 at California Won 42-24. Another FBS offense that can drop 4+ TD in the blink of an eye. With 5 minutes left in the 2nd, California held a 10-7 lead, however, 3 minutes into the 4th quarter Oregon took command with a 4th straight TD drive to go up 35-10. Shout out to Bo Nix for having a 6-TD (3 pass, 3 rush) performance. This Week at Colorado. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Last Week #11 at Texas A&M Won 31-28. This team doesn't know how to win pretty, but they do keep on winning. Jackson Dart only threw the ball 20 times, but did capitalize on those attempts with 3 TDs. The Rebels ran the ball 63 times for 390 yards, and their defense stopped A&M on four downs to finish off the game with under 30 seconds left. This Week is a Bye Week. |
| UCLA Bruins | Last Week #12 vs Stanford Won 38-13. Never any doubt the Bruins weren't going to come away with this game. UCLA has four games left three of those teams are a cominbed 9-15, and the other one is USC on 11/19. This Week at Arizona State. |
| USC Trojans | Last Week #13 at Arizona Won 45-37. Not a good showing from the Trojans for the most part. Went into the 4th quarter only up 2 points, but two long TD drives to start the 4th quarter put an end to the potential upset though as Caleb Williams finished the day with 411 yards and 5 pass TD. This Week vs California. |
| Illinois Fighting Illini | Last Week #15 at Nebraska Won 26-9. Illinois' defense is destroying folks out here giving up only 248 total yards on the road vs a Cornhuskers team coming off a 476 yard with 37 points performance. Illinois RB Chase Brown has been great during Conference Play, so he's one to watch out for because it seems like Illinois will go as far as Chase Brown pulls them on offense. This Week vs Michigan State. |
| Utah Utes | Last Week #17 at Washington State Won 21-17. Another game where Utah looked sloppy (Florida & UCLA), but they pulled out the win this time. I was very close to dropping Utah behind both Tulane & Kansas State this week, and if they continue to have bad weeks like this then they will start trending backwards. This Week vs Arizona. |
| Tulane Green Wave | Last Week #19 had a Bye Week. This Week at Tulsa. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Last Week #23 vs #8 Oklahoma State Won 48-0. Absolute domination vs the Cowboys. You were probably wondering how a G5 school was able to jump 5 spots while on a Bye Week and that's because the team they beat on the road just dominated a top 10 team like they were an FCS squad. From kickoff to QB kneel to end the game, at no point did anyone think that the Cowboys had a chance. This Week vs Texas. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Last Week #10 at Louisville Lost 21-48. Everyone knew that Wake Forest's weakness was their defense, but I didn't expect the Demon Deacons offense to stall out against a team that gave up 34 points to Boston College. Very disappointed in this team, but with still one of the better 2-loss teams in the FBS. This Week at NC State. |
| LSU Tigers | Last Week #20 had a Bye Week. This Week vs #7 Alabama. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | Last Week #21 vs Pitt Won 42-24. Don't know what it is about ranked teams starting off slow against lesser ranker or unranked teams this week, but UNC is another one. Went into the half down 17-14, but capitalized off of some Pitt mistakes and scored 28 unanswered points to win the game. Drake Maye played out of his mind with 388 pass yards (61 rush yards) and 5 TD this weekend. UNC could play shocker in the future if they keep this up. This Week at Virginia. |
| Oregon State Beavers | Last Week #24 had a Bye Week. This Week at Washington. |
| Syracuse Orange | Last Week #14 vs Notre Dame Lost 24-41. I thought going into this week that Syracuse had this game in the bag, but unfortunately the Fighting Irish had other plans. Unlike other ranked teams that started slow this week, the Orange didn't do enough to comeback. This Week at Pittsburgh. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Last Week #8 at #23 Kansas State Lost 0-48. I don't know what to say, except this is probably the most disappointed I've ever been in a team. The Cowboys were set up for success this season and were just demolished by the Wildcats. This Week at Kansas. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Last Week #16 vs #2 Ohio State Lost 31-44. They put up a good fight, but it's very hard to win a game when your defense allows 28 points in a single quarter. Honestly thought the Nittany Lions would pull it off after their early TD in the 4th, but the Buckeyes came back with three haymakers right after (3 play 75-yard TD drive, forced fumble recovered by tOSU, then an immediate 24-yard TD pass from Stroud) to put away the game. This Week at Indiana. |
| Maryland Terrapins | Last Week NR had a Bye Week. This Week at Wisconsin. |
| NC State Wolfpack | Last Week NR Won vs Virginia Tech 22-21. Every time I think this team dies the Wolfpack just slither back into my top 25. This team is basically three plays away from 3-5, yet they sit here at 6-2 and ranked #24 in the FBS (for me). This Week vs #16 Wake Forest. |
| Liberty Flames | Last Week NR had a Bye Week. It was really just between NC State, Liberty, and Washington for my #24, #25, and #26 spots this week, so the fact that I'm not thinking about 10 different teams here shows signs that we are now in the part of the season where we should all know who the top 30 teams are (I personally think there's a clear top 26 with 10 teams in the next tier of 27-36). I put Liberty here at #25 over Washington for three reasons. First, they are 7-1. Second, their only loss is to my ranked #16 team. Third, I have Liberty beating Arkansas this week & Washington losing to Oregon State. This Week (as stated) at Arkansas. |
