Dawg-Bite Ballot for 2022 Week 10

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 30, 2022, 4:59 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Resume, eye test, quality wins, head 2 head

Rank Team Reason
Tennessee Volunteers
Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan Wolverines Michigan steamrolled Penn State from start to finish essentially and completely controlled most of the Michigan State game. Plus, they have an additional win over my #25.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State trailed Penn State for 3 quarters, and it wasn’t because of any fluke plays or turnovers like Michigan had to trail the Nittany Lions. Ohio State managed to explode in the 4th quarter in an impressive way, but I feel like their own forced turnovers skewed the result of the Penn State game, making them look more dominant when in reality it wasn’t that way.
TCU Horned Frogs TCU now has a win over #14 in my rankings along with a win over #23. Plus, I feel like a Big 12 schedule is harder than an ACC one.
Clemson Tigers Clemson has wins over #20, #22, and #24 along with a win over a Florida State team knocking on the door of my top 25. My decision to put TCU over them was close, but ultimately I feel like TCU has the better statement win and harder schedule as well so far.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Oregon Ducks
UCLA Bruins
LSU Tigers LSU is white hot heading into this week. They dominated Ole Miss 45-20 last week, despite them having one more loss than USC and Ole Miss it’s hard for me to just ignore a head to head win like that.
USC Trojans USC moved up due to some teams losing that were in front of them. The difference between them and Ole Miss rn is their win over #19 Oregon State.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss doesn’t have a win over a team in my top 25 anymore. They move up because of some teams losing.
Tulane Green Wave Head 2 head over Kansas State (even if Kansas State would win a rematch and is arguably better I’m not gonna make an exception here).
Kansas State Wildcats Murdered Oklahoma State.
Utah Utes Utah won, but stayed where they were because of Cam Rising not playing so I’m hesitant to move them up until I know for sure what’s going on injury wise over there. I don’t have Utah ranked ahead of USC because I believe Utah wouldn’t be able to beat USC again without Rising.
Illinois Fighting Illini
North Carolina Tar Heels
Penn State Nittany Lions I sorta believe that Penn State is better than this ranking, but I had trouble justifying Penn State ahead of Illinois or North Carolina because I believe those teams deserve to be ranked higher rn.
Oregon State Beavers
Wake Forest Demon Deacons From this point on is teams that might not be top 25 teams or not had a top 25 performance. However, Wake still has a 6-2 record, and despite the loss to Louisville I feel they lost that way because of the 8 turnovers they had. Long story short, I think that game was an anomaly.
Liberty Flames
Syracuse Orange Syracuse had dumb turnovers and didn’t have their starting QB in the 2nd half. They are still 6-2 and I think their win over NC State should keep them up here for now.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Uhmmm, I have no words. I just think Oklahoma State’s win over Texas is better than any win NC State has. I’m still not confident this team even deserves to be in the top 25 after that performance tho. They’re honestly just here now since they’re still 6-2.
NC State Wolfpack NC State doesn’t impress me without Leary, but they’re 6-2 and moved up because there is nobody else to put here.
Maryland Terrapins Same situation as NC State, Maryland has been knocking on the door of my top 25 and managed to move up by happenstance. If it wasn’t them it would be Washington.
