1 LSU Tigers LSU remains top dog, despite the cat mascot.
2 Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama keeps beating up their competition, they just don't have the wins other teams do.
3 Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State looks great this season and has managed to avoid their traditional loss to a really bad team (so far).
4 Clemson Tigers Sure, Clemson is undefeated, but have you seen the rest of the ACC this season?
5 Penn State Nittany Lions While it's still a bit hard to judge just how good Penn State is, they've beaten ranked opponents in prime time two weeks in a row.
6 Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma looks like the top team out of the Big 12, but it's still only October.
7 Florida Gators Florida is (somehow) very good.
8 Auburn Tigers Auburn's big win over Oregon is looking better and better.
9 Oregon Ducks A nice win over the once-impressive Huskies puts Oregon in prime position.
10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame's loss looks worse, but they're still trying to make a go of it this season.
11 Georgia Bulldogs You really don't want the team you lost to losing to your rival, but that's the way she goes sometimes.
12 Wisconsin Badgers A rough loss to the Badgers, whose vaunted defense couldn't help them seal the win.
13 Utah Utes The Utes are in the driver's seat in the Pac-12 South, for whatever that's worth.
14 Baylor Bears Baylor is (quietly) 7-0 and looking solid so far.
15 SMU Mustangs SMU is a great story this year, but also a great football team.
16 Texas Longhorns Texas sits as the third-best team in the conference and the third-best team in Texas.
17 Minnesota Golden Gophers The step-child of the undefeated Big Ten crew, Wisconsin's loss shows just how hard it is to keep that going.
18 Appalachian State Mountaineers Speaking of undefeated, the Mountaineers continue their push in the Sun Belt.
19 Iowa Hawkeyes Iowa is a solid team and are ranked as such.
20 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Wake Forest pulled out the win against Florida State and check in as one of my top 20 teams.
21 Michigan Wolverines It's really hard to get a good read on some teams, and it seems like the house of cards will inevitably collapse, but Michigan is still sitting in the top 25 on the back of a couple good losses.
22 Cincinnati Bearcats Despite a drubbing by Ohio State, the Bearcats have pulled it together and are looking good in the American.
23 Boise State Broncos A rough loss to a very strange BYU team sends Boise State dropping.
24 Arizona State Sun Devils Arizona State's grip on a top 25 spot has gotten a bit less firm, but here they are still.
25 Memphis Tigers After beating the tar out of Tulane, Memphis is back in my top 25.
