ACCBiggz Ballot for 2019 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 20, 2019, 3:39 p.m.

Overall Rationale: I try not to project wins/losses and value what has currently been accomplished by teams. While a team may *look* to be one of the very best, I can only evaluate what their current record is - thus, if it lacks a quality win or a BYE week has allowed others to do more I will rank as such.It is important to note it's only based on what has happened to date. Those who have had an early bye week will get their chance to catch up, and when they do they'll be evaluated as such. Teams won't be artificially ranked highly just because I think they are better. The eye test is a perfectly valid method, but one I do not weigh heavily vs. actual on-field results.

Rank Team Reason
LSU Tigers
Ohio State Buckeyes
Alabama Crimson Tide
Clemson Tigers
Oklahoma Sooners OU continues to creep closer to leaping Clemson, but not just yet. Either after Iowa State or Baylor, presuming they win, they'll take the Tigers' spot.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Florida Gators
Auburn Tigers
Georgia Bulldogs
Oregon Ducks Oregon is silently getting back into the CFP discussion. A good road win moves them back up into the Top 10, and they only have the one close loss to a solid Auburn team.
Baylor Bears
Wisconsin Badgers
SMU Mustangs SMU continues to slide in spite of winning. Back-to-back wins over decent teams in Tulane and Temple. Baylor and Oregon jumped them this week, and that's the reason for the slide. They still have a top 10 finish in their sights should they finish out with an undefeated season, but many tough games ahead.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Utah Utes
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Cincinnati Bearcats A big leap into the top 20. It's not that Tulsa is that huge of a marker on their resume, but one loss to Ohio State with others losing in the back half of the rankings allowed them to vault up.
Memphis Tigers
Appalachian State Mountaineers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame can make a push back into the top 15, and maybe get close to Top 10, this week against Michigan. The reason they are so low is that the bye week has hurt the current status of their resume.5-1 compared to six wins for many more teams, and their 3 best victories are not all that impressive by comparison (USC, Virginia, Louisville). When an opening week game against a rebuilding Louisville is one of your biggest wins this season, you shouldn't be in the Top 10.
Boise State Broncos
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
Texas Longhorns
San Diego State Aztecs
Arizona State Sun Devils
