Ballot Type: Hybrid

Overall Rationale: Little bit less cluttered than last week, at this point in the season I'm not ranking teams with two losses or more, and did jump every undefeated team into the poll. Made it a bit easier to be consistent with head to head results and still keep it mostly points based. Hawaii was the team with the most points that I had to drop so consider them #26. Two loss teams that were closest in points were pitt, UCF, Washington, Nebraska, USC, Colorado, and Cal.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Ohio State Buckeyes | No surprise really. Most points in my poll by a pretty wide margin. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Kinda jump on a bye, this is where some human bias comes in a little. |
| SMU Mustangs | Not much of a surprise since wins count for the most in my poll and SMU has 6 of them so far. Nearly lost to Tulsa, but were able to mount a giant comeback and stay unbeaten. If that game were between two major P5 times people would be talking about it a lot more. |
| Clemson Tigers | Were actually #5 overall in points behind Wisconsin, but I won't ever put two teams from the same conference in the top 4. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Ho hum another beat down of a MAC team. Points is points though. |
| LSU Tigers | Dominating win over what looked to be a decent USU team before the game. Still have that really good win over Texas. |
| Florida Gators | They were unranked in my poll last week due to the two FCS wins not counting towards anything, but with that win over Auburn they had a huge jump and actually landed .5 points in front of UGA.  |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Had a great last 35 minutes of the game, but Tennessee put up more of a fight than I expected. Still moved forward one spot. |
| Auburn Tigers | Legitimately thought they would win, but that's what I get for having confidence in Auburn. Didn't fall too far since they've still got a great SoS. Oregon is ranked and Tulane was in my top 30. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | BGSU beatdown? Yawn. Looked good though. |
| Texas Longhorns | I have them third out of the highest one loss teams, because despite having the highest ranked loss of the three, in my poll at least, they don't have a win against someone I have ranked while Auburn and ND do. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Bit of a jump but this section of the poll is kind of a mess. |
| Oregon Ducks | Cal's defense is fucking good, Oregon's defense is also fucking good, but they're lucky Garbers was out otherwise with all those turnovers I think they'd have lost. But they won so what does it matter now? |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Also a bit more of a jump than I liked doing. The schedule is still tissue soft even with Texas Tech getting a nice win. First test is against Texas, but even that may not tell much since it's a rivalry game and records mean nothing when they play. I'm super excited for it though. |
| Michigan Wolverines | What a boring classic B1G game. Win is a win. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | If you had said the Iowa-Michigan game would end 10-3 everyone would've believed you because of course it would. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Well well well look who's back. Turns out that OSU game just means OSU is really really good rather than Cincy being bad. |
| Boise State Broncos | Another week another multiple possession conference win on the road. |
| Baylor Bears | It's both surprising and not surprising at all that Baylor is undefeated and ranked. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Bye week drop, but I feel like this is way more appropriate of a ranking for them. |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | Wins close each week but destroys Illinois in a bit of revenge. Welcome to the rankings. |
| Arizona State Sun Devils | All of their wins lost this last Saturday. |
| Virginia Cavaliers | Managed to barely stay ranked on a bye week with lots of movement around them. |
| Appalachian State Mountaineers | Only on here because of my nod to undefeated teams, granted I think #24 is also totally fine because I think App State is good. |
| Memphis Tigers | Undefeated but without any decent wins only here on that 0 in the loss column. Well. I guess Navy is decent. |
