ACCBiggz Ballot for 2019 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 6, 2019, 1:12 a.m.

Overall Rationale: I try not to project wins/losses and value what has currently been accomplished by teams. While a team may *look* to be one of the very best, I can only evaluate what their current record is - thus, if it lacks a quality win or a BYE week has allowed others to do more I will rank as such.It is important to note it's only based on what has happened to date. Those who have had an early bye week will get their chance to catch up, and when they do they'll be evaluated as such. Teams won't be artificially ranked highly just because I think they are better. The eye test is a perfectly valid method, but one I do not weigh heavily vs. actual on-field results.

Rank Team Reason
Florida Gators The Auburn win gave them a signature victory as well as a 6-0 record. They made a big leap above the 5-0 teams. Obviously, next week's game against LSU is even more crucial. The winner is a clear-cut #1 team.
LSU Tigers
Georgia Bulldogs
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State jumps up, but won't pass LSU or UGA. The big reason is the lack of a big quality win. If you want to argue Michigan State is that quality win, that is certainly fair. I simply don't value it above an Auburn, Texas, Notre Dame level of victory this season. Still, Ohio State gets into the top 4 and clearly have big games left with Wisconsin and Penn State.
Clemson Tigers
Wisconsin Badgers
Auburn Tigers Dropping Auburn to 7 likely isn't that controversial, but keeping them ahead of Alabama and Oklahoma will be. The reason why is Auburn still has two of the best wins of the season w/ Oregon & A&M. A close loss, on the road, matters a little less while both Alabama & Oklahoma lack a single quality win to date.Alabama gets A&M while OU has the RRS. Wins there should elevate them ahead of Auburn, but not this week.
Alabama Crimson Tide
SMU Mustangs Lowest ranked 6-0 team. Having them ahead of OU will still make heads explode, but it's really a 6 > 5 argument right now. OU has looked better to be sure, but I value what has been accomplished and SMU has a comparable schedule to date w/ one more win. That changes next week for Oklahoma as they are poised for a major jump.SMU: Arkansas St., North Texas, Texas State, TCU, South Florida, TulsaOU: Houston, South Dakota, UCLA, Texas Tech, Kansas
Oklahoma Sooners
Penn State Nittany Lions
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Boise State Broncos
Memphis Tigers
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Baylor Bears
Oregon Ducks
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Arizona State Sun Devils
Texas Longhorns
California Golden Bears
Appalachian State Mountaineers
Utah Utes
Virginia Cavaliers
Michigan Wolverines
