TheFlyingBoat Ballot for 2019 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 24, 2019, 2:19 a.m.

Overall Rationale: By Conference:ACC: 3Big 10: 5Big XII: 5Pac-12: 4SEC: 5Ind: 1G5: 2Alabama and Clemson hold.LSU's offense continues to impress, putting up 66 on Vanderbilt. Their air defense continues to be superb, backed by talent such as Fulton, Delpit, and Stingley, and their run defense is solid with Deplit in support, though is prone to giving up chunk yards on occasion. They pulled their defense and tossed in their back up QB who threw a pick 6. Their D only gave up 17 points before garbage time, which is fine.Georgia picked up their signature win against a competitive Notre Dame side. Notre Dame unfortunately was undisciplined with the ball, giving the ball over 4 times on fumbles and interceptions. When given the ball back Ian Book was incapable of leaving a sustained drive for a game winning score after having thrown 2 interceptions earlier in the game. They slide to 10 from 7 (more an effect of Wisconsin and Auburn jumping on good wins than anything else), while Georgia jumps from 6 to 4.Ohio State was put in a funny situation by Miami (OH), but throttled them in the end.Wisconsin just dominated Michigan from start to finish. A powerful offense and a smothering defense to boot. Taylor looked just as good as I expected and Coan looked liked a capable game manager. A legitimate challenger to Ohio State's thrown is ready and it's not Michigan.Auburn picked up a nice win over what turned out to be a very overrated Texas A&M team. They dominated Texas A&M from the beginning and regardless of some garbage time points to make the score look better. A&M tumbles out of the ranking altogether. 2 wins over Texas St and Lamar and 2 losses in which they get dominated by elite teams does not a top 25 team make. If they had looked good in either game an argument could have been made to keep them in. Auburn rises 3 spots to 8.Florida somehow managed to look bad in a blowout. They were lucky to face a team as bad as Tennessee here. Trask throws 2 interceptions. Their top 3 RBs averaged 3.9 ypc. Their top 2 who split carries evenly went for 4. Against Tennessee. Their defense performed well, but once again it was Tennessee. They are little better than a mediocre G5 team. This is the 4th straight game Florida failed to dispatch a weak opposition in an appropriate manner.Talk to your family about a top 15 Cal. Life is grand, ain't it?Speaking of Cal, how about Sonny Dykes at SMU?Iowa St is the surprise to a lot of a people, but they're still a good team. If you watched the game against Iowa you saw a game that was very different from the score. Iowa St was arguably the better team. Their offense finally came fully online this week, and while their defense looked elite I doubt it was anything less than a little a bit of sleepwalking considering how good their defense was.
