Ballot Type: Hybrid
Submitted: Sept. 22, 2019, 5:41 p.m.
Overall Rationale: Same rationale as usual. Week by week it comes more in line with the usual top 25. I think this week there are only 6 teams different from the AP poll and 5 of mine are receiving votes. App State might've too I don't remember. Biggest difference is no OU, because my poll is heavily SoS based and OU's is lacking even with UCLA's ridiculous comeback win.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Really really cashing in on the small MoV component, but really they look like potentially the best team in the country right now. |
| Auburn Tigers | Surprise surprise this high, but all three of their wins from before week 4 won in week 4. The win over TAMU wasn't as nice as Clemson's obviously, but the Oregon win is the second best win in the country and Tulane being 3-1 helps. |
| Clemson Tigers | Ho hum time to murder the ACC. Yawn. |
| SMU Mustangs | I know I know I know. Adding up all the numbers and seeing them at 5th overall in points surprised me, but they have four FBS wins. Two on the road including over a rival P5 team. As well as having all their wins win this week as well.  All the little ways they can make points in my poll are happening and it's a wtf ride so far. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Actually only .1 points behind Clemson, but I'll never put two teams from the same conference in the top 4. That idea is abhorrent to me, and conference play will always settle the debate in season. Doesn't mean I think SMU is better than Bama at all. But SMU does have a more impressive SoS so far IMO. |
| LSU Tigers | Plugging along, Texas win looks real nice. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Murdered Michigan which will look better for special people that still have Michigan in their top 25. |
| Texas Longhorns | LSU and LT winning along with beating OK State gave them a bit of a bump to the top 10. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Them dawgs is hell. Really perfect third quarter defensively kept them from a potential loss as the Irish gave them all they could handle. |
| Florida Gators | I have no idea how good Florida actually is, but three P5 wins is nice even if Tennessee and Miami are bad and Kentucky lost again. Tied with Boise, but gave them the edge for now. Though I'm not convinced that Air Force isn't a better win than what Florida has. |
| Boise State Broncos | Second half Boise State is a monster, but with the MWC looking solid this year it will be tough to make it through unscathed.  |
| Colorado Buffaloes | Wut. Didn't expect them this high, but Nebraska keeps winning and beating ASU on the road was real nice. Definitely think they're way overrated here, but that's bias I'm trying to eliminate.  |
| Virginia Cavaliers | Played around with ODU and nearly gave every VT fans something to have wet dreams about for years, but they're such a tease and that will probably bite them in conference play. Maybe. ACC is definitely garbage, but Coastal gunna Coastal. |
| California Golden Bears | Win on the road against a bad P5 team and Washington won. Hurray for being the only undefeated team in the Pac-12 only four weeks into the season lol. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | Bye week didn't really drop just got passed by teams that played. |
| Oregon Ducks | Stanford definitely isn't great this year, but 3-1 and ready to see what they can do. |
| Washington Huskies | Can you imagine where they'd be if they hadn't lost to Cal? |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Not that far of a drop as it seems because they actually gained a tiny amount of points despite the loss, other teams just won and gained more. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Utah State won, but Rice and UNC lost. No idea how good they actually are right now. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Technically, Miss St had more points but the head to head win in Starkville can't be ignored. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Enjoy it for now because Bama, LSU, and Auburn are all still on the schedule. Ouch. |
| Arizona State Sun Devils | Kinda the same as KSU-Miss St where MSU technically had more points, but H2H is important when teams have the same record. |
| Michigan State Spartans | Will MSU be the team we all know they can be from here on? |
| USC Trojans | Almost could've predicted the Utah game based on the amount of hype the Utes were getting. Pac-12 don't play that. |
| Appalachian State Mountaineers | Nebraska actually had slightly more points, but fuck it here's where my bias is happening. Recognition for finally beating a P5 team after several close losses since moving to FBS.  |
