GenialGiant Ballot for 2019 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 16, 2019, 10:44 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Another week, another human ballot. With all the early bye weeks, I can't yet justify using my computer model for much, though I hope to incorporate it soon. First N Out - Arizona State, Oklahoma State, Memphis

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Despite any early-season misgivings I may have had about Clemson's ability to handle Syracuse, they were all for naught as the Tigers dominated the Orange.
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama handled South Carolina fairly comfortably and will host Southern Mississippi before moving into the body of their SEC schedule.
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia will face the first of many major tests this weekend when they take on the Fighting Irish.
LSU Tigers A convincing win over an FCS team sets the stage for LSU's first conference game against Vanderbilt.
Ohio State Buckeyes No concerns of an Indiana upset, as the Buckeyes took care of business against the hapless Hoosiers.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma has been dominant so far, but let's see what they make of their conference schedule.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Off last weekend, Notre Dame faces what could end up being their biggest test of the season when they take on the Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Auburn Tigers The Tigers have already faced a big obstacle in Oregon, but they'll face several more before the season's up; one such challenge comes this weekend against Texas A&M.
Texas Longhorns Beating up on an in-state foe is always fun, but Texas will face another level of competition as their Big 12 season opens up.
Texas A&M Aggies Texas A&M absolutely dominated this Saturday, but they don't have time to rest on their laurels with a huge game against their second Tigers team of the season.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State looked rough much of Saturday against a relatively weak Pitt team; it's possible some of that is due simply to the rivalry aspect of the game, but it's certainly not a good look for the Nittany Lions.
Wisconsin Badgers With a big assist from the bye week, Wisconsin still hasn't given up any points this season, but a game against Michigan will surely push them on that front.
Utah Utes 3-0 after pummeling an FCS team, Utah will look to start its conference schedule in earnest against USC.
UCF Knights Another day, another P5 team falling to UCF.
Florida Gators The Gators looked rough Saturday, but I was pretty high on Kentucky, so it's hard to fault them too much.
Michigan Wolverines Off this week, Michigan offers more questions than answers, but they'll have the opportunity to prove themselves against Wisconsin this weekend.
Iowa Hawkeyes After knocking out their in-state rivals, Iowa gets a well-earned week off.
Oregon Ducks A sound beating of an FCS team does little to alter the outlook of the Ducks, though the loss of one of their offensive weapons could hurt Oregon as they open their conference schedule.
Washington State Cougars After wrapping up their non-conference schedule at 3-0, the Cougars will open Pac-12 play this weekend against the hapless Bruins.
California Golden Bears After staving off North Texas, Cal finds themselves in my top 20.
Boise State Broncos Boise State's win over FSU looks worse and worse, but they're still sitting just outside my top 20.
Virginia Cavaliers UVA has emerged as the dominant Coastal team, though that's always a dicey proposition.
Washington Huskies Sure, the Huskies lost to Cal, but that's looking less and less like a black spot.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons People make fun of UNC for losing to Wake Forest, but I think this could actually be a decent team.
Kansas State Wildcats With a win over Mississippi State, the Wildcats jump into my top 25.
