crimsonlaw Ballot for 2019 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 16, 2019, 10:09 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Syracuse has been a thorn in the Tigers' side. Not this week. The champs stay on top of the mountain.
LSU Tigers These Tigers beat up on a lowly opponent. Now hey have to visit Vandy. LSU should hang in the number two spot at least another couple of weeks.
Oklahoma Sooners Traveled to UCLA and embarrassed Chip Kelly. Just like everyone else this year. That little game with Texas may be the Sooners' only challenge this year.
Ohio State Buckeyes They look to be the toast of the Big 10 yet again. Only concern is they haven't played a challenging schedule, so it's tough to fully evaluate this team. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
Georgia Bulldogs UGA has a golden opportunity to prove how strong this team is by taking on Notre Dame this week. Thus far, they haven't been tested, but they have looked so good it's hard to rank them lower than 5th.
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama's offense is amazing. Their defense? Eeeeeehhhh... South Carolina exposed some holes, and I don't think the Gamecocks are good enough on offense to being exposing holes on any team. Right now, I don't see Alabama as a playoff caliber team.
Wisconsin Badgers The Badgers get to show how good they are by taking on Michigan this weekend. They've played like legit contenders for the Big 10 title against lesser competition. Now let's see how they do against a blue blood.
Auburn Tigers Auburn has a big test this weekend, being underdogs traveling to Texas A&M. I have no doubt they will win and in convincing fashion. Such is Auburn.
UCF Knights Call me a fool, but the Golden Knights have a knack for winning, and they just beat a decent Stanford team. I'm man enough to put them in my top ten (for now).
Utah Utes That win against BYU is looking kind of impressive now. The Utes' next two games (at USC and vs Washington St) are big ones that will set the trajectory for their season.
Texas Longhorns I still think this is a damn good Texas team.I expect them to win their next two and come into the Oklahoma game with only the one loss.
Washington State Cougars I'm kind of a fan of Washington State right now. I think they are underrated and are looking like a 10-2 team. It's just a shame that their toughest games are all on the road this year.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State won an ugly game against their rivals, Pitt. A win is a win. Still, this is a stout team that could easily win 11 games this year.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish I'm not a big Notre Dame fan this year, but that could change if they can pull the upset against the Georgia Bulldogs. I still think they could have lost against Louisville, so I'm hesitant to rank them this high, but the Irish took care of business against New Mexico, so maybe I'm not giving them enough credit for the Louisville win.
Florida Gators Their win over Miami is looking less impressive now and they almost managed to let Ketuncky start a winning streak of their own.  Oh, and they lost their QB. I think I've overranked Florida here, but I can't find someone I want to put above them.
Texas A&M Aggies This may be the last week we see A&M in my poll for a while. They catch Auburn at home, and while the Aggies have looked great against lesser opponents and did a respectable job against Clemson, Auburn will give them fits. Fisher won't get to hang up his national champ plaque this year.
Michigan Wolverines If they take down Wisconsin, the Wolverines will have my respect. Until then, they are in my poll as a courtesy. I remember the first two games of this season. Michigan is not playing at a high level. Wisconsin should jump on these guys.
Boise State Broncos I like the Broncos, but this is a little high for them. I just don't like a lot of them teams behind them. This is a team that will move based on the actions of other teams and don't have much control over their poll destiny.
Iowa Hawkeyes I guess I'll keep Iowa at 19? They are much better than what they showed against Iowa State, but that was an odd game. Iowa is the definition of tepid to me right now.
Oregon Ducks The Ducks did good this weekend. They are coming into the meat of their schedule. I hope the coaching has improved from the first game against Auburn to handle some of the in-conference challenges they are about to face.
Arizona State Sun Devils I'm ready to give some love to the undefeated Sun Devils. True, their win over Michigan State is a bit tainted by the reffing error, but they still get credit for the win in the record books. Ol' Herm may be putting together a nice program down in Tempe.
Virginia Cavaliers Nice work Virginia! Taking care of business against Florida State! We could be looking at a nice little sleeper team here.
California Golden Bears Okay, Cal deserves to be ranked, being undefeated and beating a highly ranked Washington. I worry, though, because they aren't kicking butt. They just eek out wins. Traveling to Ole Miss will prove to be an interesting challenge for the Bears this week.
Wyoming Cowboys For some reason, Wyoming looks pretty good to me. Knocking off Missouri was a shock to me, and they've managed to keep winning since then. Let's see if they can keep it up as underdogs against Tulsa this weekend.
BYU Cougars They beat Tennessee. They beat USC, They lost to Utah. That's a solid resume at this point in this season. They have Washington this week. if the Cougars can pull that one off, they have a legit change to run the table. We shall see!
