Blooblod Ballot for 2018 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 23, 2018, 3:42 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Disclaimer: I really hate my poll this week after the top 16. Everyone outside of the top 16 is bad they should feel bad.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Little or no movement. Last week: 1
Georgia Bulldogs Little or no movement. Last week: 2
Ohio State Buckeyes Little or no movement. Last week: 3
Clemson Tigers Little or no movement. Last week: 4
Oklahoma Sooners Little or no movement. Last week: 5
LSU Tigers Little or no movement. Last week: 6
Auburn Tigers Little or no movement. Last week: 8
Stanford Cardinal Little or no movement. Last week: 7
Washington Huskies Little or no movement. Last week: 9
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Little or no movement. Last week: 11
Penn State Nittany Lions Little or no movement. Last week: 10
West Virginia Mountaineers Little or no movement. Last week: 13
Duke Blue Devils Duke wouldn't have moved up in in a vacuum--it was the losses by Mississippi State, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Boston College, that moved them up so much. Last week: 17
UCF Knights Same case as Duke. Last week: 19
Oregon Ducks I'm sorry, Duck bros. If I were a Oregon fan I would be absolutely livid. That was brutal, but I think the Ducks played the better game despite coming up with an L so they don't move down for that--like Duke and UCF, losses by four of the teams immediately above UO actually ended up with them jumping in the rankings despite a loss. Last week: 18
Kentucky Wildcats DON'T CALL IT AN UPSET. Ignore my ranking of them last week (Last week: 43...)
Michigan Wolverines This is where it starts to get ugly. I don't think Michigan is a top 20 team... but I feel the same way about all of the teams immediately below them. They looked incredible against Nebraska, but Nebraska has also yet to prove they can be competitive in the B1G this year. Last week: 25
Wisconsin Badgers Similar case as Michigan. Last week: 24
Miami Hurricanes Similar case as Michigan and Wisconsin. Last week: 21
Texas Longhorns TEXAS IS BACK, BABY. Since the second half of the USC game this has looked like a different team. The TCU win was actually really impressive, and while USC might not be good they're probably(?) too talented to be bad... if there's such a thing after seeing FSU this season. Texas's secondary is coming along nicely and there's some future superstars in it. As with everyone else outside of the top 16, I don't feel like UT should be this high, but who else would go ahead of them? Last week: 27
Iowa Hawkeyes I already know Iowa isn't going to be ranked in the AP or Coaches poll, but I'm still considering their win over Iowa State to be a quality win and they were competitive with Wisconsin. Again, four bad losses from teams in the top 20 actually results in Iowa moving up one spot from last week--but that's a bit deceiving. Last week: 22
Oklahoma State Cowboys That was ugly. Taylor Cornelius has to be more consistent in high-scoring Big 12 games otherwise Ok St fans are going to forget about that Boise State win real quick. Last week: 15
Mississippi State Bulldogs I can't believe I'm saying this, but Kentucky handled Mississippi State on both sides of the line. That being said, I still have faith in this team and think they'll get back in the top 20. Last week: 12
Boise State Broncos Little or no movement. Last week: 25
Texas A&M Aggies I hate ranking 2-2 teams but I'm not sold on BYU (and I guess by the transitive property that means I'm also not sold on Cal?). There's definitely a lot of teams with legitimate arguments to be in one of these last two spots, but A&M's two Q U A L I T Y L O S S E S are about as quality as you can get.
