xelphin Ballot for 2018 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 17, 2018, 12:38 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Oh my fucking god. Ole Miss had a family. 62-7 is an absolute annihilation and I'm genuinely worried.
Georgia Bulldogs UGA has shown nothing yet to dispute their #2 spot. Their only real test so far has been South Carolina, whom they destroyed. They likely won't see a chance to prove they have what it takes to beat Bama until they play LSU in week 7, but if they continue their path of destruction they will stay at #2.
Clemson Tigers Yes, they barely scraped by A&M last week, but there is still nothing to dispute their spot at #3 yet. They jump OU due to the Sooners struggling a bit against Iowa State.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State has not yet played a non-P5 opponent. This game was by far the closest game...and they still won by 12 against a very good TCU.
Oklahoma Sooners Beating ISU by only 10 should be expected by any middling program. Allowing them to score 27 on you when the week before they only scored 3 on an unranked Iowa is embarrassing for a purported top 5 team, and they therefore drop a few spots
LSU Tigers A very close battle between the tigers won by 1 point, and it is therefore fitting that LSU moves up again. So far they are undefeated with two ranked wins, and they definitely deserve to be up there with the best.
Penn State Nittany Lions This squad looked much more put together than they did against App State 2 weeks ago, and they continued the momentum they had against Pitt just a week ago, scoring 12 more points despite giving up an extra 4. Trace McSorely is definitely someone to watch as well.
Auburn Tigers Lost a close one to LSU. So far, Auburn has had one of the toughest 3 games to start the season due to playing two top-10 opponents. Though they lost this one, it was decided on a last-second field goal that could very well have gone the other way.
Washington Huskies Beat up on Utah, their first in-conference opponent. The Utes are not ranked, but have historically been a tough game for anyone in the Pac-12.
Virginia Tech Hokies Postponed game. Dropped in my poll, but only due to being jumped by Washington and Penn State.
Stanford Cardinal Jumped 4 spots mostly because I think they really held back against UC Davis. They have Oregon next week, which could easily be their hardest test yet.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Only beat Vanderbilt by 5, but that might also be due to Vandy being...not terrible.
UCF Knights Postponed game.
Oklahoma State Cowboys I didn't have them ranked before for some reason, but the pokes deserve to be in this spot after beating Boise State by more than 3 scores.
West Virginia Mountaineers Postponed game.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
TCU Horned Frogs Held onto Ohio State for longer than I think a lot of people expected. They really started to fall apart midway through the 3rd quarter, which sealed their fate.
Wisconsin Badgers Lost to BYU. Cmon, guys.
Michigan Wolverines Defeated SMU, but not with the kind of gusto that TCU laid on the Mustangs last week. Michigan has a lot to prove, and they might be struggling to find a game to prove themselves for a few weeks.
Oregon Ducks
Iowa Hawkeyes 38-14 is not representative of the beatdown Iowa gave UNI. It was 38-0 partway into the 4th, and Iowa had long since taken their foot off the gas. Granted, this was against an FCS team, but Iowa has Wisconsin next at Kinnick Stadium...at night. That game will be Iowa's chance to really prove they deserve to kick it with the big boys.
Miami Hurricanes
Boston College Eagles I love this timeline. Boston College is 3-0 with a few very considerable wins. They could very well be 5-0 when they waltz into Raleigh to start October.
Texas A&M Aggies
Boise State Broncos Get that Quality L
