Overall Rationale: nan
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Clemson Tigers | I had them at 1 to start the season. Its going to be tough to hold off Bama, particularly if Bama woops Texas A&M. Like if Bama kicks A&M's ass, theres about a zero percent chance Clemson will rank ahead of them again before November. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Going to be interesting to see how Bama plays Texas A&M. I mean if they blow A&M out like they have these other teams, then they wont come close to losing until november.  |
| Georgia Bulldogs | I think they have entered the tier with clemson and bama early in the season. We'll see if they can stay there. But I think they've slightly separated from tOSU and OU.  |
| Oklahoma Sooners | I've been impressed and don't think their offense has really missed too much of a beat yet. However, they haven't played anyone. Obviously when they scheduled UCLA they had no idea they'd be terrible, but UCLA is now winless 3 games into the season. They have 2 more easy wins coming up before Texas. I'm still not sold their offense is going to be as good without Baker though. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | They really didn't look very good vs TCU. But at the end of the game we really saw the talent advantage tOSU had on them, and will have on most teams. And with Wisconsin losing a trap game, Michigan already losing to ND, and MSU losing to ASU, they and PSU have a major advantage over the rest of the B1G teams....And they play in 2 weeks. So I think the B1G will be pretty much decided sooner than later.  |
| LSU Tigers | Well so far they have the most impressive wins of any team, with a win over Miami and Auburn. That Auburn win was close though, and certainly wasn't domination. They have a great defense and good run game. But I don't think Burrow has been a very good Qb - I guess that makes these wins more impressive. Though I think their win vs Miami wasn't as one sided as the score indicated. Miami might be the only top team with a qb worse than LSU. They've got 2 easy games, but then UF, UGA, MSU, then Bama coming up. Pretty tough. If they can win 3 of those, I think they'll have earned a top5 ranking, even with one loss. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Three straight one score wins vs Michigan, ball state, and Vanderbilt. That doesn't exactly make me confident in them. And I still think ultimately when they play a much more athletic team they will crumble. Luckily for them the obvious candidates for that - FSU and USC are really bad right now. I think their game vs Stanford will be a toss up though. If they win that one I will at least be one fit in on the hype.  |
| Stanford Cardinal | they've done what they're supposed to do thus far. Oregon and Notre Dame up next will tell us a lot about the PAC12's chances to make the CFP. Their win vs USC isn't all that great. |
| Auburn Tigers | Lost a close one to LSU. They were able to shut down LSU's run game for the most part, and even the pass game too. The problem is the passes they did allow were for big gains. But typically when you hold the opposing QB to 44% completion%, and their RBs to <100yds and <3.6ypc you've been dominating defensively. Offensively they ran pretty well too. They really should have been able to beat LSU. Ultimately Burrow didn't turn the ball over, and Stidham did, and that was the difference. Pretty dissapointing for a Qb that was getting a lot of hype entering the season. But the win vs UW is still good, and at the end of the day they only lost by a game winning fg. They got an easy road to make ground back up until november. |
| Washington Huskies | its going to come down to UW or Stanford to win the P12. They can't drop another one though if they want to make the CFP. ASU and BYU having just beaten MSU and Wisconsin respectively are no walk in the parks, but now they know they need to bring their A game. they won't be caught off guard.  |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | That overtime win vs App St is still ugly. Their next test is tOSU in 2 weeks. I'm not convinced they're really deserving of a top 10 spot, so they'll have to prove it. Ultimately they're undefeated, and have some talent, so they deserve to be ranked ahead of some of these 1 loss teams. |
| Miami Hurricanes | I really think Malik Rosier is terrible and the Run Blocking has been pretty bad. But honestly who's got the talent level close to Miami on their schedule? As bad as FSU is, thats a rivalry game, so it still might be close, but other than that only BC and VTech are even close. And ultimately Miami has a major talent advantage, which usually pays off. Can that talent overcome what might be the worst QB of any top 25 team though? idk. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | I was really impressed with them this week. They lost, but the final score doesn't really show how good they played. Ultimately they just got out talented. I think they out coached tOSU this week. But in CFB talent often times is king. So ultimately I don't think TCU has the ability to go to a CFP game. I think they're in that 10-2 tier, with OU being the true B12 CFP contender. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Yeah I'm really disapointed. I think they fell into a trap game tbh with a tough road game at Iowa next. Honestly I did Not expect them to lose to one of the "lesser" teams. I thought they'd have a pretty high floor but a low ceiling, but I though they'd take care of business with the exception of maybe 1 loss. The good thing for them is they still have road games against Iowa, Michigan, and PSU to boost their stock back up. Bad thing is this does Not bode well for them if they play tOSU in the Championship game again. |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | They really don't get tested until the final 4 weeks of the season, in which they play Texas, TCU, OKSt, and OU. Thats a fucking guantlet to end the season. They better make sure they're getting through all these games healthy and with Wins. Because going 2-2 in that final 4 stretch would be real goood imo. They have a top CFB QB though, so they'll always have a chance imo. |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | yes they wooped FSU, so its a solid win, even though FSU is falling apart. And yeah they're undefeated while Miami has 1 loss (and ranked higher) But the reason they aren't higher is simply because I just don't believe they are nearly as talented as last year when they got demolished by Miami with ease. Ultimately they wont really be moving too much in my rankings until the ND game, when they have a real shot to prove themselves. Duke is a trap game though.  |
