frumious88 Ballot for 2017 Week 9

Ballot Type: Computer

Submitted: Oct. 23, 2017, 3:34 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My poll is a computer poll that I have been running for several years. It is loosely based of the Ohio highschool football rankings. Basically, it treats all FBS teams as equal at the start of the season. Teams get points for beating teams and get secondary points for how their opponents do against other teams. For example, Alabama beating Florida St in Week 1 is not worth very many points at the beginning of the season but if Florida St continues to win, Alabama gains more and more points every week from that victory as the system starts to recognize it as a quality win only if Florida St proves to be a quality win over the course of the season.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Penn State Nittany Lions
Georgia Bulldogs
TCU Horned Frogs
UCF Knights
Wisconsin Badgers
Clemson Tigers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Miami Hurricanes
Michigan State Spartans
Washington State Cougars
NC State Wolfpack
Ohio State Buckeyes
Memphis Tigers
Oklahoma Sooners
USC Trojans
San Diego State Aztecs My system doesnt punish too harshly on blowout losses. They are still highly ranked because they have a very good win against stanford and a solid win against Arizona st. However the rest of their schedule is very weak so they will have a hard time improving on this position
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Washington Huskies
USF Bulls
Virginia Tech Hokies
LSU Tigers
Boise State Broncos
Stanford Cardinal
Marshall Thundering Herd I doublechecked the math on this one as I thought it was a mistake at first. They are virtually here by being 6-1 with no wins against a FCS team and all wins against FBS lvl opponents. Unfortunately for them, they do not play anyone decent and winning out may get them approaching top 15.
