1 Clemson Tigers still the best win of a playoff contender so far. clemson @ vt this week, get hype. this game will either solidify playoff contender status or open the door wide open for other contenders
2 Alabama Crimson Tide 59-0 is always impressive, but vandy isn't always impressive. beating ole miss at home the same way will be a start
3 USC Trojans if pac-12 magic doesn't lift WSU over USC this week, good chance of making the Pac-12 championship. the ND game should be good too, but not really directly related to the playoff stuff yet
4 Oklahoma Sooners baylor? really? i mean... if oklahoma makes it through the red river shootout, bedlam looks to be a top 10 game this year
5 Washington Huskies washington vs cal looks to be a good one, but this looks like the team to win that division so far. gotta beat oregon.
6 TCU Horned Frogs kenny goddamn trill baby. home against west virginia, then need to survive until texas in a few weeks. TCU and OU look to win the Big XII if OSU even drops one more game
7 Virginia Tech Hokies if the clemson upset happens, the playoff picture opens up as wide as it could possibly go. best of luck, gobble gobbles
8 Georgia Bulldogs this is currently the team in the SEC east with the best combination of coaches, players, and fan advantage. however, i still half-way expect Florida to win the east. best of luck, bulldogs. i'm looking ahead to the outdoor cocktail party.
9 Michigan Wolverines please keep o'korn in there, speight is just not very good. MSU this week, then a possible (probably not, but possible) trap game at Indiana before the true test at Penn State.
10 Wisconsin Badgers damn early bye weeks. i don't really see a legitimate challenge on this schedule until Michigan. maybe @UNL, maybe Purdue, maybe Iowa.
11 Penn State Nittany Lions sorry nittany lions, i completely blanked on this one last week, i won't make that mistake again. this team should survive to Michigan. we'll see the B1G picture clearer there
12 Oklahoma State Cowboys still a great quarterback, but that defense needs to learn how to get off the field. need to get back on track at TT. not an easy schedule coming up, for sure.
13 Washington State Cougars big test this week. doesn't get any easier after that, either. best of luck, cougs.
14 Louisville Cardinals @NCSU? @FSU? louisville should make some noise in bowl season but they're definitely on the outside looking in of the ACC, and the playoffs by extension
15 Ohio State Buckeyes hoo boy. OSU might slip under the radar until they steal the B1G this year. Penn State looking like a hell of a matchup at this point.
16 Auburn Tigers more like i expected. now i expect this team to dismantle Mississippi State in a week.
17 Utah Utes any team that survives pac 12 after dark gets a week of attention from me. two really tough challenges in a row before there's any relief. good luck with stanford first.
18 Florida Gators good lord. i could not feel sorrier for Kentucky right now. 31 in a row. watch this space: Florida will back into Atlanta again
19 West Virginia Mountaineers still looking ahead to WVU @ TCU. that opening loss to VT means WVU will slip by unnoticed for a while.
20 LSU Tigers can we please eliminate preseason polls now? they're just useless. looking at LSU @ UF now.
21 USF Bulls this team winning out is a lock for a NY6 bowl
22 Duke Blue Devils 4-0, a win over UNC at their place. if duke can hold out against Miami they will officially be a darkhorse ACC CCG team.
23 Colorado Buffaloes @UCLA won't be easy, but a few more-winnable games after that. best of luck, buffs
24 Memphis Tigers need a defense. not an easy AAC schedule. @USF, @Houston. lucked out in not drawing USF. i like those two teams for the conference championship game at the end of the year
25 Notre Dame Fighting Irish georgia loss looking even more not-bad than it did originally. that USC game should be good in a few weeks.
