T-Thugs Ballot for 2017 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 18, 2017, 11:11 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Impressive and dominating win over Louisville this weekend. Couple that with their win over Auburn and Clemson has the most impressive resume so far. It doesn't hurt that they are reigning champs.
Alabama Crimson Tide It's actually kinda hard to judge the Tide right now since their best win is over Florida State and FSU hasn't played a game since their loss to Alabama. I think that Florida State was a good team. I would have had a much better idea if FSU had played their Miami game this week. Alabama did beat Colorado State... We'll know more about them soon. They play a  a surprising Vanderbilt team next week.
Oklahoma Sooners Sooners whooped on Tulane this weekend. Their win over Ohio State on the road in week 2 remains one of the most impressive things anyone has done this season, though.
Michigan Wolverines I actually don't think Michigan is this good, because I believe their offense has some pretty big problems. Looked sluggish against Air Force. The reason I moved them up this week is that their win over Florida looks significantly better after the Gators beat Tennessee.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Laid an absolute beatdown on LSU. It's still early and hard to know how much this means, but that is one of the more impressive wins I've seen so far this year.
Georgia Bulldogs Their win on the road at Notre Dame remains pretty solid. ND laid a beatdown on Boston College this week. (Boston college sucks, but good teams whoop bad teams). Georgia has a suddenly huge matchup with Mississippi State this coming weekend. Winner of that game will jump up to the number 2 spot at least.
California Golden Bears Cal is awfully surprising so far, with wins over North Carolina and Ole Miss out of conference. I don't know if UNC is a quality win, since they lost another one, but its a hell of a lot better than playing an FCS team, no matter what the score is. Kudos to Cal for their OOC schedule. We will know very soon how good Cal is. Their next three games are against Oregon, Washington, and Washington State. If they can go 2-1 through that stretch, they'd be looking great.
Maryland Terrapins Maryland dominated Texas on the road. USC squeaked by Texas at home. I have a hard time ranking USC above Maryland. I would have probably put the Trojans here, except their win over Stanford seems much less impressive following the trees defeat by San Diego State.
USC Trojans Best wins are Stanford and Texas. Win over Stanford seemed much more impressive last week.
San Diego State Aztecs It may seem silly to have San Diego state ranked so highly, but they've won games against Arizona State and Stanford. While other teams are just getting started on their real schedules, SDSU has some quality wins.
Virginia Tech Hokies Virginia Tech's week 1 win over West Virginia keeps them in my polls, but they won't really have a chance to move up until they play Clemson in a few weeks.
Kentucky Wildcats There aren't a whole lot of great wins to go around, so Kentucky beating South Carolina on the road gets the wildcats high in my rankings. They play Florida next week and have a good chance to move up.
Memphis Tigers Memphis beat UCLA this weekend. I had UCLA in the middle of my rankings due to them beating Texas A&M. Really solid win. Could drop if UCLA loses more games, as I suspect they will. Their defense is terrible.
Vanderbilt Commodores Vanderbilt got a solid win over Kansas State this week. They play Alabama next week and could really change things if they somehow win.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Laid a beatdown on a weak Pittsburgh team this week. They play TCU this week and the winner should jump up into the top 10.
TCU Horned Frogs Defeated SMU this week after defeating Arkansas last week. If they beat Oklahoma State, I'll move them way up.
Penn State Nittany Lions Another whooping on another bad team. Their win over Pittsburgh was not as impressive as Oklahoma state's, and that's really the only thing I have to base Penn STate's quality on so far. I think they are a very good team, though. Waiting to move them up until they beat someone notable.
Duke Blue Devils Wins over 2 power 5 teams in Northwestern and Baylor (even though Baylor is terrible).
Florida Gators Florida got a win over Tennessee this weekend and that bumps them back into my rankings. First team with a loss. Their loss was to Michigan.
Washington State Cougars Wins over Oregon State and Boise State.
Washington Huskies A lackluster win over Rutgers keeps me from ranking Washington super high. They've got a big game coming up at Colorado this week that can get me to jump them up in the polls.
Louisville Cardinals Louisville's only loss was to my #1 team, Clemson. They also have a win over Purdue, which I'm starting to believe may be a decent win? That seems ridiculous. Will find out what Purdue is made of this week against Michigan, though.
Minnesota Golden Gophers  Best win was a blowout of Oregon State. They have a week off before playing Maryland.
Oregon Ducks Oregon goes here because they beat Wyoming by more than Iowa.
Wisconsin Badgers Beating crappy teams.
