Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama Crimson Tide | While Alabama's defense wasn't firing on all cylinders last night, they still pulled off a solid win against a good Colorado State team, and remain the #1 team. |
| Clemson Tigers | With two dominant wins over solid programs, Clemson holds their #2 slot. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Coming off of a big win in Columbus, this week the Sooners destroyed Tulane at home, so I believe they are more than worthy of remaining in the Top 4. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | With a dominant win over Georgia State and USC struggling against a not-so-great Texas team, Penn State takes the #4 slot from them. |
| USC Trojans | They played a hell of a game last night in an Instant Classic, but it was still against a mediocre Texas team, so they drop one spot in the Rankings. |
| Washington Huskies | Though they struggled against Rutgers in Week 1, the Huskies have pulled off some dominant wins over lower-grade teams the past two weeks, so they jump Florida State in my poll. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Wisconsin has towered over everyone they have played thus far, and move up to #7. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | With a great victory in Pittsburgh and a stellar offensive performance, the Cowboys advance to 8th in my poll. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | The Buckeyes had issues with their offense last week, but they played a good game against Army and remain in the Top 10. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Moving up into the Top 10, this Georgia team still has a lot to prove, but I like what I see so far and their performance this far against foes Appalachian State and Notre Dame justify their entrance into the Top 10. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Michigan is still having some issues, and though that is expected for such a young team, they remain right outside the Top 10 for now. |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | Virginia Tech remains undefeated and move up 1 slot with a strong victory over East Carolina. |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | The 2-1 Mountaineers are still playing just as well as they in Week One and have played strong against all their foes thus far, so Conference Play against fellow Big 12 teams is sure to be interesting. |
| Utah Utes | With Auburn struggling against Mercer and Stanford falling to the Aztecs, Utah moves up into the Top 15 thanks to good showings from their offense and defense. |
| Florida Gators | A bomb of a Hail Mary to beat Tennessee and bad performances by some teams ahead of them propel the Gators to #15. |
| Washington State Cougars | The Cougars are putting on a good showing for their fans and enter into the Top 20. |
| Auburn Tigers | Auburn had mediocre play and plenty of turnovers against Mercer, so they fall 1 slot down entering into Conference Play. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | TCU is playing like a contender for the Big 12 Championship this season, and if they keep playing like this, they might just win it. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | With some solid play against LSU in Starkville, the Bulldogs enter into the Top 20 and they travel to Georgia next week to decide if they move up further. |
| Florida State Seminoles | Missing two games the last two weeks, winning this coming weekend will be Florida State's last chance to stay in my poll, thus far being win-less but remaining in it. |
| San Diego State Aztecs | Upsetting the the Cardinal at home and being undefeated, San Diego State enters the Top 25 and becoming the leading contender for the G5 NY6 slot. |
| Memphis Tigers | Similarly undefeated is Memphis, who also have upset a ranked Pac-12 team this weekend at home. Right now it's between the Tigers and the Aztecs for who gets the NY6 slot for the G5. |
| USF Bulls | The South Florida Bulls are still in the race for the NY6 slot, but sloppy performances these past few weeks have knocked them out of front-runner status. Charlie Strong has to get his team ready for conference play, otherwise they can kiss that G5 Access Slot goodbye.  |
| Navy Midshipmen | Memphis and USF aren't the only American Conference teams vying for a chance at the Big Teams. Navy is undefeated thus far and looking strong. |
| Toledo Rockets | Toledo has quietly put together a decent resume, going undefeated with solid wins against Tulsa, Nevada, and Elon. Though always strong-looking, they are looking towards a MAC Championship this season. |
