fadingthought Ballot for 2017 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 18, 2017, 2:19 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama's reputation will keep them here until they give me a reason to think otherwise.
Clemson Tigers Clemson's win over a second P5 team pushes them above Oklahoma, though I remain very skeptical about how good Louisville is.
Oklahoma Sooners Defense is still a bit of a question mark, but conference play will put it through the ringer. I think 1-3 are in the same tier and are interchangeable for the most part.
Oklahoma State Cowboys OSU's OOC road whooping of Pitt pushes them ahead of the next tier.
Penn State Nittany Lions I'm lower on the hype train for Penn State than most, it will be interesting to see how they hold up in conference play.
USC Trojans A lot of people shit on USC for that close game but Texas is still a roster loaded with top 10 recruiting classes. The talent is there, if the execution isn't.
Washington Huskies Rutgers is about the worst OOC game you can schedule. A 16 point win seems expected, not good.
Michigan Wolverines Man, I don't know what to make of Michigan. They need to find a better rhythm on offense if they are going to make the jump to the next tier.
Wisconsin Badgers Wisconsin probably has the easiest path to the B1G title and if they keep getting the QB play they have shown so far, watch out.
Virginia Tech Hokies Gobble gobble, gobble gobble, gobble gobble gobble gobble.
Mississippi State Bulldogs What a ass kicking. We were all watching the LSU hype train and then the camera zoomed out and it was just a toy train and a bulldog was shiting on it.
TCU Horned Frogs I'm a bit higher on TCU than most, but I'm a believer in what Gary Patterson can do and the offense is really finding its groove.
Georgia Bulldogs Loads of talent and I think ND is better than many give them credit for. Next week will be a big game for the SEC.
Ohio State Buckeyes Playing the service academies are not helpful in determining how good a team is. tOSU seems like it needs to find its identity.
Washington State Cougars The double Mountain West teams don't do the Cougs any favors, especially next weeks winless Nevada
Auburn Tigers Auburn's loss puts them a bit low for me, but given how close of a game it was, I'll be keeping an eye on them going forward.
Florida Gators When I saw the spread was 4 1/2 point I joked that Florida will have a hard time scoring that many. They will need to fix some things if they want to rebound this season.
Miami Hurricanes The Canes have played one game but are coming off a good season last year. Improved recruiting and Richt's second season should help them going forward.
San Diego State Aztecs Two big P5 wins push them ahead for me
USF Bulls Charlie Strong has more P5 wins than Texas, something I'm sure he enjoys
Utah Utes The 20-25 range are all pretty interchangeable, but I like where the program is going even if the BYU win looks less impressive.
Vanderbilt Commodores Big win over KSU,. it will be interesting to see how the SEC east shapes up.
Oregon Ducks Nebraska did Oregon no favors this week, but the Ducks may have found their offensive mojo again this season as they have already almost caught their win total from last year.
Colorado Buffaloes OOC schedule is pretty abysmal, but they are dominating all over.
California Golden Bears Wins over UNC and Ole Miss push Cal up a notch, but I think there are another few teams that have arguments for the lower 20s. Next week of conference play should start to flesh out the list.
