CarbonCamaroZL1 Ballot for 2017 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 17, 2017, 7:46 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Dropped: Louisville, Kansas State, Stanford, ColoradoNew Additions: Mississippi State, TCU, Maryland, San Diego StateTeam to Keep an Eye On: Oregon.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide 0 spots. I won't drop them from the #1 spot yet, but their 18 point win wasn't really first place-ish against an MWC team.
Clemson Tigers 0 spots. Does exactly what I said, dominated Louisville and made them look awful. Louisville isn't a top 25 team. Only a top 25 QB.
Oklahoma Sooners 0 spots. Oklahoma looked ugly against Tulane at first, but then made it look like it wasn't even a game anymore.
Penn State Nittany Lions 0 spots. Penn State yet again dominated who they were supposed to by a lot of points. But they have yet to beat a truly tough team and don't move anywhere right now.
Washington Huskies 0 spots. Same as Penn State, still no real victories but they have been winning and winning very well.
Michigan Wolverines +1 spot (previously 7). My bias may be taking over here, but I thought Michigan looked very good on every corner of the field except for the red zone offensively. Special teams and defense were on fire and Nordin is still the best kicker in the NCAA. Get some red zone TDs and all will be well.
Ohio State Buckeyes +3 spots (previously 10). Man handled Army. Did a better job than 2 teams that were previously ahead of them (LSU and USC) plus Florida State didn't play this week. Explanation for that below.
Georgia Bulldogs +3 spots (previously 11). Also moved up a couple of spots due to dropped teams and one that didn't play.
Wisconsin Badgers +3 spots (previously 12). Went into BYU and desecrated them, which is difficult to do. Starting to look like the real deal.
Oklahoma State Cowboys +3 spots (previously 13). Likewise for the Cowboys, came in and destroyed their competition and continue to look very strong.
Virginia Tech Hokies +3 spots (previously 14). Moved up due to their big win and they didn't almost lose to Texas...
USC Trojans -4 spots (previously 8). Stay with me. I know they won, but they just... almost lost to Texas at home. USC does not look strong this year. They may have beat Stanford, but I no longer have Stanford on this least after losing to an MWC team.
Washington State Cougars +2 spots (previously 15). Looked very good against a pretty bad team, but they did it without their lead QB. Definitely sitting pretty good in the PAC-12 right now.
Florida State Seminoles -5 spots (previously 9). I know moving a team who had a bye week (after having a hurricane cancel the previous game) is a bit strange, but there are other teams right now who deserve to be higher. Can't halt a list purely because you didn't play. Will move them back up throughout the season if they continue to look good, but we haven't seen much out of them yet since they lost their QB.
West Virginia Mountaineers +4 spots (previously 19). WVU continues to look very strong. Underrated team considering they barely lost to a tough Virginia Tech in an away game and have been offensively very tough.
Miami Hurricanes +1 spot (previously 17). Despite being in the same situation FSU is in, they move up purely because a couple of teams ahead of them move down or out.
Auburn Tigers -1 spot (previously 16). Yes, they won. But they didn't look very good doing it. Some other teams deserve to be ahead of them.
Mississippi State Bulldogs NEW (previously UNRANKED). Mississippi State shut down a highly ranked LSU. I thought LSU was better, but maybe Mississippi State is just really good. Next week against Georgia will show which SEC team has the potential to take down Georgia.
TCU Horned Frogs NEW (previously UNRANKED). I sort of forgot about this team and didn't rank them previously. But seeing as how they are now 3-0 and beat a tough SMU team, plus their previous wins have been strong, they get to move up pretty far.
Utah Utes +3 spots (previously 23). Despite what everyone has said, I knew Utah deserved to be ranked. BYU is a tough rival so that game is hard to judge by. They have also achieved avoiding the North Dakota upset and managed to now win against San Jose. While there are no real big wins, they are still 3-0 and now enter PAC-12 matchups which will begin showing how good this team really is.
Florida Gators +4 spots (previously 25). Florida finally managed to play a game again and did look decent against Tennessee (a big rival lately). They managed to win on the exact same play, play call and yardage when time expired as last year. Definitely convinced Jim McElwain did this on purpose and held back just to do repeat last year. Right?!?!
USF Bulls 0 spots. Not really deserving to move anywhere. They are not a Power 5 team and did beat a B1G team, but it was just Illinois. Not a true feat. But they are 3-0 and have a tough schedule coming up with conference play.
LSU Tigers -17 spots (previously 6). Went into Mississippi State and got dismantled. Didn't even look like a football team. Granted, it's a tough place to play, it's not top 10 work. Or top 20. This may be a bigger drop than necessary, but considering the games they have coming up, they have a chance to redeem themselves.
Maryland Terrapins NEW (previously UNRANKED). Maryland didn't even play this week and yet? I'm adding them in. They went into Austin and beat Texas. Then USC barely beats Texas. Maryland also looked very strong last week. With the many drops this week, Maryland moves up.
San Diego State Aztecs NEW (previously UNRANKED). I know this team doesn't actually deserve to be ranked 25th, but I don't really know who else to add that I feel should be here. Maybe Oregon, but not yet for them. So I will just leave SDSU here purely for entertainment purposes. But I don't know how long they will stay.
