Overall Rationale: There’s a gnome my wife bought. It speaks to me when I’ve been out in the sun too long gardening. It talks to me about college football, and the fundamental nature of the incomprehensibility of the universe. He said to me “L rizz bozo” I don’t know what that means.

Big win over Penn State, Dan Lanning should stop complaining about travel. Dante Moore is a beast. Now hold off Cignetti and Indiana before a few easier weeks. |

The Canes didn’t do anything wrong, but Oregon's PSU win sets them higher than Miami’s so far. Huge game vs FSU next week. |

Really solid Washington win, I debated putting them above Miami but I didn’t want to penalize Miami for being off. Minnesota and Illinois coming up are both solid squads that will help figure out this team that I’m still a bit unsure about. |

Big win over one of the two main games for this squad this season (though that Egg Bowl looks more serious than previously thought). Kiffin wins over his daughter’s boyfriend so I think that counts double? Enjoy the off week and tune up before Georgia. |

Huge win over an improved Arizona squad. It feels like this one has been looked over because of all the other big games this weekend. They really don’t have any gimme games coming up with most of the Big XII looking more solid than last year. |

Ugly win over Auburn where the refs nearly outgained Auburn. If the refball is ignored A&M absolutely dominated and looks scary. If both the ND offense and Auburn defense show up in the same game this squad is elite. In fairness, the A&M offense wasn’t bad, just a bit sloppy, but the run game against what looks to be a very solid run defense in Auburn is very promising. Mississippi State coming up looks like a real challenge, and Florida and Arkansas could both have new coach bumps in the time they play. |

OU’s win over Auburn was kind of the opposite story to A&M’s. They won with the help of the refs, A&M won in spite of them. That’s largely why I’ve had the two swap places. Time up vs Kent State and take out texas and they’ll prove they should be up here. |

Mostly movement from the rest of the top 10, TTU’s win over Utah looks impressive and the game next week against Houston looks to be a big matchup, though TTU looks to have it handled. |

Close win over a weird Iowa squad, I’m not sure how to feel about that game in all honesty, but Mendoza is clearly one of the best QBs out there. Next week vs Oregon is a Heisman matchup which should be great. Otherwise looks like a light schedule with Penn State looking to be the only real matchup after this one. |

I mean it’s Utah State so not a ton to say, but Pavia certainly played big for the dores. Next week against Alabama is a HUGE game, but frankly every remaining game on their schedule is. |

Escaped a close one over a bad Wake Forest, the next few weeks will be telling if that was an aberration or what to expect. Duke will be the next real difficult team they face. |

Big win over Georgia to show that Alabama deserves a spot in the top 25. They showed more fight than the paltry energy against FSU. Huge matchup against Vanderbilt next week, and the rest of their schedule isn’t exactly kind to them. |

A close loss to a top team, but they’re being relatively heavily penalized. Franklin losing another big game is not shocking, but also not good. Drew Allar is not good enough, simply put. He’s been near the bottom almost every week in QBR for the B1G, that is not sustainable for a team that wants to be elite. |

Huge win for Virginia. They’ve been on my radar but not quite in. The defense still leaves much to be desired, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that the NC State game was the outlier and not this game. Louisville next week is a huge test for both teams. |

Demolished Arkansas. I mean demolished. The hogs gave up on the field. It was bad enough that Arkansas fired their coach. This was the answer Notre Dame needed after their start to the season. To be in contention for a playoff spot, they need to win out and dominate in similar fashion. Whether they play any more ranked teams is the biggest question mark on if they’ll be able to sneak their way in. |

I feel inconsistent with how I’ve graded Mizzou, but South Carolina and Kansas aren’t quite as good as I thought they would be, and other teams have shown more clearly that they’re good. The only easy game the rest of their schedule is maybe Arkansas. Tigers will have to earn it for sure. |

Arizona State absolutely needed that win. A close loss at Mississippi State is no longer embarrassing, and beating Texas State, Baylor, and TCU are all important games. They’re still in it for the Big XII title, and that’s what their focus needs to be. Their next four games won’t be easy though, and they’ll have to show they deserve a spot in the Big XII championship. |

Absolutely the answer they needed after getting thwomped by Indiana. I think USC is a quiet descent squad this year, so this win helps them a lot. Tune up vs Purdue and then try and knock down Ohio State the next week will partially tell this squads story this season. |

A big win over WVU was what Utah needed. Arizona State in two weeks is their chance to prove they’re still a contender in the Big XII. |

A close win over a decent Pitt squad. Complete second half control shows they are able to make adjustments as needed. Next week vs Virginia is a huge game for both squads. |

The duality of Weigman. Houston will be a fun team to watch this season. Their matchup with TTU this week is their chance to prove themselves, or banish themselves into irrelevancy. |

Big win over the Orange. Though it’s not as impressive as before cuse lost their starting QB. I still think this is a pretty decent Duke squad. That said, at Cal next week is dangerous. |

Back in the top 25 after a close win over a good Mississippi State team. Aguilar continues to get the better of the Nico “trade”. They certainly don’t have the hardest remaining SEC schedule, but Alabama looms large after a bye and tune up / trap game vs Arkansas. Next 5 out are texas, BYU, Memphis, Michigan, and USC. USF, Mississippi State, LSU, and Cincinnati aren’t too far behind either. |
