Tornadohunter24 Ballot for 2025 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 20, 2025, 9:41 p.m.

Overall Rationale: The wait is (almost) over; CFB season is back, baby! And I’m back to give another terrible list of teams that will end up aging horribly over the course of the next 5 months. While normally this is the part where I have a long-winded explanation that essentially boils down to record + results over brand and vote momentum, leading to a lot of poll fluidity and odd rankings near the beginning, I’m going to skip that. Instead, let me explain my top 25 for this preseason. Ultimately, what I’m trying to consider is not only how good a team is but how likely they’ll be able to remain in the top 25 by the end of the season. In addition, I'm including at least 5 spots for the G5, as an indicator of who I think is favored to make a run at the Playoffs out of those conferences. If you want to read further on exact explanations (similar to the one that I did for the past season, where a lot of the same sentiments still hold true), here you go: https://poll.redditcfb.com/ballot/56814/. A lot of the questions from last year remain the same, and I have no strong loyalties towards the exact placement of these teams until we actually start playing the games. | HONORABLE MENTIONS: BYU Cougars, Indiana Hoosiers, Ole Miss Rebels, Missouri Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, Kansas State Wildcats, Iowa Hawkeyes, Louisville Cardinals, Tulane Green Wave, Liberty Flames | Oh, and just for fun - conference winners! | American: Memphis over Navy (Navy's gonna be good this year, trust) | ACC: Georgia Tech over Clemson (homer pick for sure, but I still believe) | Big 12: Baylor over Arizona State (Dilly-dally'd and I believe in Aranda) | B1G: Penn State over Illinois (Illinois has the easiest schedule) | CUSA: Western Kentucky over Liberty (fuck Liberty) | MAC: Buffalo over Toledo (Candle chokes again, sadly) | Mountain West: Boise State over Hawaii (look at Hawaii's schedule, they could 100% sneak in over UNLV) | Pac-12: Wazzu over Oregon State (probably split that series 1-1 but points differential) | SEC: uGA over... we'll say LSU (does Brian Kelly deliver? no idea but this is his best shot) | Sun Belt: James Madison over Texas State (bit of a crapshoot but I like these two)
