pvadali Ballot for 2024 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 21, 2024, 11:50 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Oregon Ducks Don't like ranking the Ducks first, but of the undefeated teams, they have the best win so far against Ohio State.
Penn State Nittany Lions I value being undefeated. Penn State has a good win against USC, but needs more to overtake Oregon.
Georgia Bulldogs Good win against Texas, only loss so far is to a solid Alabama team on the road.
Ohio State Buckeyes Only loss so far is 1-point loss against an elite Oregon team, every other game they have dominated.
Texas Longhorns Every game has been dominated until they ran into Georgia. Not fully sure who they are yet.
LSU Tigers Very solid resume so far -- close loss to a USC team that I still think is good even after the losses, and wins over Ole Miss, South Carolina and Arkansas.
Indiana Hoosiers Undefeated, with a dominant win against Nebraska, a solid team in my opinion. Easy schedule means there's really only one game that I would not favor Indiana in for the rest of the year (Ohio State).
Miami Hurricanes Undefeated, but has looked extremely shaky so far (close wins against Louisville, Cal, Virginia Tech, arguably needed referee help in those games).
Clemson Tigers Have looked very good outside of the loss to Georgia. Considering moving them above Miami.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish NIU game looking like a fluke, Notre Dame has looked extremely good since that game. USC game may not be the resume builder that ND was hoping for, but Army and Navy games do look better at least. Texas A&M win looking strong.
BYU Cougars Undefeated, but has played poor competition. Has the best win when compared to Iowa State (vs. Kansas State). Also a good win against SMU.
Iowa State Cyclones Undefeated, but has played very poor competition. Also was lucky to escape UCF with a win.
Pittsburgh Panthers Undefeated, but poor competition. Will be able to better evaluate after SMU game.
Kansas State Wildcats Loss to BYU hurts a lot, but otherwise the team has looked good (closer than I would've liked in the Colorado game though).
Tennessee Volunteers Loss to Arkansas hurts a lot, but have a really good win against Alabama. Even though this Alabama team isn't as good as previous years in my opinion, it is still a win to be valued strongly.
Alabama Crimson Tide Two losses really hurts. Playoff seems very unlikely now. However, still a talented and strong team, with a very solid win over Georgia.
Texas A&M Aggies Only one loss to a Notre Dame team that is looking good. Have looked better in recent games, solid win against Mizzou.
Missouri Tigers Only one loss on the year, and that to a Texas A&M team that is good.
Boise State Broncos Close loss to an elite Oregon team. Besides that, have been good in an admittedly weak conference. We will see when it comes to the UNLV game. Ashton Jeanty is a legit Hesiman candidate.
Illinois Fighting Illini Solid team that has good wins against Nebraska and Michigan now. Oregon is a tough matchup coming up, expect to see the Illini look competitive in that matchup.
Ole Miss Rebels Two losses hurts. The Kentucky loss is bad however you slice it. LSU is a good team however, and I don't take too much away from them because of it. I believe this team can push their way back up the rankings if they win a few games.
Vanderbilt Commodores Great win against Alabama and Kentucky. Looking forward to the Texas game. If Vanderbilt can win against Texas, they are truly legit and will skyrocket up the rankings.
SMU Mustangs Loss to BYU hurts, and weak schedule has not helped. Do not view Louisville highly, but it is a decent win. Will shoot up if they can beat Pitt.
Navy Midshipmen Weak schedule so far, but undefeated. Looking forward to seeing how competitive they look against ND.
Army West Point Same as Navy, but I believe that Navy has looked slightly better. Fluid ranking however, and more than willing to switch Army and Navy depending on who looks better next week.
