Muffinnnnnnn Ballot for 2024 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 1, 2024, 12:57 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses matter most. As long as I can, I'm not ranking teams above other teams with head-to-head losses. I'm also not ranking 2 loss teams while we have 19 undefeated teams. I have a feeling these rankings will be the most unusual compared to my other ones. My rankings reward what you've done this year more than anything else. Only Duke and Liberty are outside my top 25 among undefeated teams. Both suffer from the issue of not blowing out bad teams they've played and also lack any amazingly impressive win. A lot of teams who haven't accomplished much this year fell out of my rankings with a loss. I'll use Ole Miss as my example because they were my highest who I had dropping out. The combined record of the teams they've beaten this year is 6-12, and 3 of those are from 3-2 Georgia Southern. Then, they lost at HOME to a Kentucky team who was 2-2 coming in with a blowout home loss to South Carolina. I genuinely don't think they have done much to say they should be ranked in the top 25. There's a similar story for Louisville, Oklahoma State, UCF, and Utah. I dropped Miami significantly for their previous game vs Virginia Tech in which they.... "won." Michigan honestly still feels too high at #18 and screams "fraud team" that will probably lose to Washington this week, but despite that, the only loss being Texas keeps them in the top 20 for now. I've had UNLV as the highest G5 team almost all season and they delivered one of the most emphatic wins of the week by demolishing Fresno State (something Michigan could not do). Army and Navy are both ranked together for the first time in a long while. Navy has a solid win over Memphis, and while Army has had a weak schedule, they've blown out everyone they've played, unlike Duke and Liberty. With how many teams are placed very differently to the AP, I don't even know what teams will be in my most unusual. As always, I'll mention my unusual picks in greater detail in the reddit comments.
