Muffinnnnnnn Ballot for 2024 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 3, 2024, 10:39 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses matter most. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to see many wins and losses, so a lot of this is guesswork. I don't have a hard rule about not ranking winless teams, and I had both LSU and Clemson in my rankings during the process, but in the end, some other teams just barely beat them out. It'll sort itself out soon enough. These rankings are highly variable early in the season, as all rankings should be. I do have some component of preseason ideas of teams here, but that's averaged out with the performance in (for most teams) only one game. Oregon falls from #3 to #15 based on their showing vs Idaho, and Ohio State falls from #1 to #7. USC goes from unranked to #18 and Miami goes from unranked to #16. Obviously, Georgia is #1 based on having the best win and looking like the best team. If I had a power rating I made, Georgia would be #1 there as well. Georgia Tech is 2-0 which gives them a bump just barely into my top 25, but Boston College looking better vs a common opponent in Florida State than GT gives them one spot over them. Iowa also joins my rankings after appearing to have an offense potentially? It probably won't show in Cyhawk since those games tend to end like 10-6. Most things in this ranking are comparing FCS wins, and I DO take into account how good the individual FCS teams are expected to be. I have respect for Furman, so Ole Miss dismantling of them actually allowed them to rise a decent bit up.
