Zloggt Ballot for 2024 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 4, 2024, 7:42 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Every 5 spots make up a tier, and each team in said tier gets further organized within, depending on the usual factors (game results, margin of win/loss, E Y E T E S T, etc). But when pretty much EVERYONE in the FBS is spending their weekend gorging on cupcakes...it does make it kind of hard to judge...

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs
Ohio State Buckeyes
Texas Longhorns
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Maybe still a bit TOO high? Likely...still, a ranked win is a ranked win, and doing it (on the road!) on a week where not much else happens is still a useful boost/support...
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ole Miss Rebels
Penn State Nittany Lions
Missouri Tigers
Michigan Wolverines
Oregon Ducks Am I being too harsh? Too lenient? Somewhere in-between? Man, I don't know...so I just give the Ducks some benefit of the doubt and consider their potential/ceiling...but fuck man, you can't let yourself almost lose to a (very good, mind you) FCS team at home like that...
USC Trojans Reactionary jump for what is arguably a close win (at a psuedo-"home" game at that)? Perhaps...but you know how much of a crapshoot these polls are anyway lol
Utah Utes
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Oklahoma Sooners
Miami Hurricanes As with anything, who knows if this Miami team really has it in them? I guess manhandling Florida at the Swamp gives a lot of credit (even if it is not exactly a high-standard lol)...but I do suppose that, uh, "recent events" opens up the path for the ACC title...
Tennessee Volunteers
Kansas State Wildcats
LSU Tigers
Arizona Wildcats
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Is this a tad bit of an overrate? Yes...but are the Yellow Jackets some of the ONLY 2-0 teams in the entire subdivision? Yes! I guess playing big games - and winning them - earlier than usual pays off, you know...
Kansas Jayhawks
Boston College Eagles Again, perhaps a bit of an overrate - especially considering how Georgia Tech more or less spoiled the win by already exposing Florida State before. But hey, even if the Seminoles seemed much more weaker, crushing them AT Tallahassee, rather than having to rely on some late FG magic far from the States, is arguably the more impressive effort. And anyway, the Eagles just need to stick the landing next Saturday so that they finally enter the main polls then...
Iowa Hawkeyes
Boise State Broncos If Oregon had a LOT of trouble putting away their fellow Gem State squad (at home) last week...then the Ducks are going to be a in a heap of trouble when the Broncos come to town...
SMU Mustangs And here is the OTHER 2-0 team in the subdivision (that I know of)! They were my random pick for the preseason - and even though we've got a whole lot of stuff happening in-between, I guess that their early-bird winning habits will warrant one additional week in my ballot. Maybe this will come to an end on Friday...but we will see...
