Overall Rationale: My opinion after years of watching football.
| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Georgia Bulldogs
|
Dominant as expected. |
| 2 |
Texas Longhorns
|
Impressive win over G5 Colorado State. |
| 3 |
Ohio State Buckeyes
|
Slow start, but an impressive finish. Smith looks like another excellent wide receiver. |
| 4 |
Alabama Crimson Tide
|
Looks like the Crimson Tide aren't going anywhere. |
| 5 |
Miami Hurricanes
|
The Canes absolutely shelled the Gators. |
| 6 |
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
|
They went on the road and beat a ranked team, i'm impressed. |
| 7 |
Ole Miss Rebels
|
The Lane Train rolls on, though I'm skeptical it'll reach its ultimate destination. |
| 8 |
Penn State Nittany Lions
|
Has Frames Janklin finally figured things out at Penn State? I doubt it, but we'll see. |
| 9 |
Oregon Ducks
|
Ugly showing against the Vandals, three sacks for the Vandals, almost as many as the Ducks gave up all of last season (5). |
| 10 |
USC Trojans
|
I'm not super confident in the ability of Lincoln Riley and the Trojans to actually continue this form for the entire season. |
| 11 |
Oklahoma Sooners
|
The jury's still out on Oklahoma in my opinion, but they won in convincing fashion, so here they are. |
| 12 |
Missouri Tigers
|
They return a lot from last year and Coach Drinkwitz is a solid coach. |
| 13 |
Clemson Tigers
|
They're talented, but incomplete... Dabo is both the reason they're talented and the reason they'll never reach the mountain top again. |
| 14 |
LSU Tigers
|
LOL Brian Kelly is still Brian Kelly. I expect the Tigers to be the offensive powerhouse they were last year... and fall short like they did last year. |
| 15 |
Michigan Wolverines
|
Michigan is exactly what i'd thought they'd be... flawed on offense, nasty on defense. Davis Warren is the quarterback, he's reasonably accurate, but it remains to be seen if he's a playmaker at all. |
| 16 |
Louisville Cardinals
|
I believe in coach Jeff Brohm. |
| 17 |
Utah Utes
|
Utah's gonna win the BIG-12. |
| 18 |
Kansas Jayhawks
|
Lance Leipold is still a great coach. |
| 19 |
Washington Huskies
|
Looking good, interested to see where they go from here. |
| 20 |
Kansas State Wildcats
|
They thrashed UT Martin, interested to see where they go from here. |
| 21 |
Tennessee Volunteers
|
Their QB's name may be hard to pronounce, but I have a feeling he'll be a household name by November. |
| 22 |
Fresno State Bulldogs
|
I firmly believe that Fresno State is going to be a contender for the G5 slot in the playoffs. Their offense is underrated, their quarter back is an old fashioned riverboat gambler (which I like), and their defensive line is very physical. |
| 23 |
Oklahoma State Cowboys
|
They're good enough to be ranked, so here they are. |
| 24 |
North Carolina Tar Heels
|
Not an impressive win, but a wins a win. |
| 25 |
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
|
Still think the Scarlet Knights will be a player in the B1G, but we'll see. |
