Overall Rationale: Poll starts as a power rating in the preseason and over the course of the season begins to weight resume more in an attempt to reflect how the CFP committee selects its teams. Resume is weighted very low to start the year so teams may not move as drastically as you may assume hence why LSU is one ahead of USC despite losing the head to head. USC obviously has the resume advantage but LSU managed to keep its power rating just enough ahead of USC that they stayed ranked higher. If all else was equal, if this ballot came out in say week 3 or 4, USC would be ahead.
