NyquillusDillwad20 Ballot for 2024 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 12, 2024, 7:37 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Combination of how teams ended last year and how must talent they return/added. Teams that are more talented or have performed well in recent years get the benefit of the doubt and a slight boost up the rankings.

Rank Team Reason
1 Ohio State Buckeyes This team is absolutely stacked. Only questions are QB and OL, but they shouldn't be bad at either spot. They have enough talent everywhere else to make up for mediocre QB play.
2 Georgia Bulldogs I don't think Beck is as good as he's getting credit for which is why I don't have them #1. I don't think they have quite the skills players that OSU does to make their offense as potent.
3 Oregon Ducks The Top 2 teams are the only ones I have extreme confidence in. Replacing Nix is not an easy task and I don't believe Gabriel is quite as good. But they have the talent elsewhere that makes them the third best team in my mind.
4 Texas Longhorns Very talented, but not quite on the level of OSU or UGA.
5 Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama gets the fifth spot just from how dominant they have been in recent memory. There's a chance they take a sizeable step back without Saban.
6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish I think this team is getting overlooked. They should be very well-balanced, although losing their project starter at LT made me hesitant to put them this high. But Notre Dame never seems to have OL issues.
7 Penn State Nittany Lions A ton of talent all over the field. If Allar can live up to his potential in his second year as starter and a couple WRs can step up, then this team can compete for the B1G. DL and LB depth could be an issue if the starters get injured.
8 Clemson Tigers Clemson still gets the benefit of the doubt in my rankings. I think its more likely they'll be good than bad, and all they need is a little boost on offense to be right back in the national title race.
9 Ole Miss Rebels A ton of talent returning on a very good team, but losing Judkins is a huge blow.
10 Utah Utes With Rising and Kuithe returning they should be heavy favorites to win their new conference.
11 Florida State Seminoles Another question mark based on what they lost, but they've shown they can make a great team by filling holes with transfers.
12 Michigan Wolverines They lost a ton of talent and coaching, but the defense should be dominant. I just don't see their offense being too good.
13 Missouri Tigers I think they have a shot at making the SEC championship game just due to how easy their schedule is, but I don't see them as a true contender. They do return a ton of talent from a NY6 winning team though.
