Overall Rationale: The teams in the top 8-10 play musical chairs until bigger games start. For 10-20, Quality losses are a BS factor, Like Al Davis said: Win, baby win. Every undefeated team P5 team either has 4 or 5 wins, and will be ranked above P5s with losses. That lead to Louisville, Kentucky, etc, jumping up, and Alabama having a pretty large drop despite a dominating win.
| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Georgia Bulldogs
|
5-0, win over Auburn was too close -- 10-10 at half. Still, the only prior bias a pool should have is the defending champion bias. They're #1 until defeated. |
| 2 |
Texas Longhorns
|
Dominated a Kansas team I had ranked -- and that will probably be ranked again by end of the season. Jumping F-State. |
| 3 |
Florida State Seminoles
|
Bye. |
| 4 |
Michigan Wolverines
|
Dominated a hapless Nebraska. Defense is still one of the best in the country, offense looked much better. |
| 5 |
USC Trojans
|
Beat Colorado, without CO's best player, that is still a VERY good team. Colorado will finish with 9 wins and ranked. USC's defense is getting embarrassing. Offense is stunning. |
| 6 |
Ohio State Buckeyes
|
BYE |
| 7 |
Washington Huskies
|
Game verses Arizona was tight at moments, but they look more complete than USC (but less offensively potent) |
| 8 |
Oregon Ducks
|
Dominated Stanford every way imaginable. |
| 9 |
Penn State Nittany Lions
|
Tying NW at half is stressful, lots of things not connecting, came back to win bi. |
| 10 |
North Carolina Tar Heels
|
BYE |
| 11 |
Washington State Cougars
|
BYE |
| 12 |
Oklahoma Sooners
|
Decimated Iowa State. Could be a top 10 team by beating Texas. |
| 13 |
Missouri Tigers
|
Stomped Vanderbilt, has a Kansas State win on the resume (and they're sniffing the rankings. |
| 14 |
Miami Hurricanes
|
BYE |
| 15 |
Maryland Terrapins
|
Tell your kids. In another year, the Virginia win might be more impressive. |
| 16 |
Kentucky Wildcats
|
Tore apart Florida ending a 30+ game losing streak. Quietly winning. |
| 17 |
Louisville Cardinals
|
Indiana is a marquee P5 OOC win, but overall, undefeated on a soft schedule. Expect future movement. |
| 18 |
Alabama Crimson Tide
|
Really impressive vs Mississippi State. Fell, because we should respect (P5) wins. |
| 19 |
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
|
Snuck by Duke in a close game. They're struggling, then beating teams perceived as mid-tier. Classic Notre Dame. |
| 20 |
Ole Miss Rebels
|
Beat LSU in a barn-burner. Alabama could be its only loss of the season? |
| 21 |
Oregon State Beavers
|
Beat a ranked Utah (Utah ranked because of resume than potency). Struggled with defense. Ugly, gritty. Tough, but not the class of the Pac. |
| 22 |
Kansas Jayhawks
|
Kansas has had some glorious wins vs Texas. Not this weekend. |
| 23 |
Utah Utes
|
Finally lost a gritty game (to Oregon State). Getting their QB1 back healthy should help. |
| 24 |
Duke Blue Devils
|
Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Was probably over ranked. |
| 25 |
Fresno State Bulldogs
|
Beat Nevada convincingly, but not going to rank above a P5 team with less than 2 losses. |
