YellowSkarmory Ballot for 2023 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 3, 2023, 2:19 a.m.

Overall Rationale: I try to rank based on resume, which creates some weird results this early in the season. I do not base my rankings off my previous ones whatsoever, as that just leaves teams with worse resumes higher than they should be. MOV does not play much of a role in my rankings, either. Feel free to ask me about any ranking.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns Texas has by far the best resume in the country. They have THREE wins over teams undefeated outside of their game, including a road win at Alabama (the other two are at home against Kansas and Wyoming). Nobody else has more than two, and there's only 5 of those. Add on a win over a 3-2 Rice, which can't hurt, and Texas is #1 by a mile for me.
Washington State Cougars Two personal top 30 wins is something no other team here outside of Texas has. Sure, they beat both Oregon State and Wisconsin at home, but those are some of the top one-loss teams for me. @ UCLA this week should be interesting.
Ohio State Buckeyes The win at Notre Dame is one of the best, if not the best, win in the country. That's huge, even if I think OSU may be the third-best team in the east. I expect them to pull away from Maryland in the 2nd half this week.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Miami Hurricanes Miami and Missouri are practically tied and I didn't know what to do, but Miami ended up with the edge I guess? Sure, why not.
Missouri Tigers
Florida State Seminoles
Michigan Wolverines
Washington Huskies
North Carolina Tar Heels
James Madison Dukes I HAVE JAMES MADISON OVER GEORGIA AND I DON'T REGRET A THING (wins at Troy and vs. South Alabama so far look better than at Auburn and vs. South Carolina to me, we'll see how it turns out but for now that's where I stand)
Georgia Bulldogs
USC Trojans
Kentucky Wildcats
Oklahoma Sooners
Oregon Ducks
Louisville Cardinals
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame marks where 1-loss teams start to come in – if you have a win over a team with a winning record and are undefeated, you're ahead of ND, but if you don't you're behind (except for Liberty, I'm sorry but I legitimately cannot look at FIU and consider them a good win wherever you play them – besides, it's Liberty, does anyone care if they get screwed over?). I'm still sad or frustrated, I don't even know, about the ending of our game against them. I just hope our defense keeps us near a blue Iowa range until Leonard's healthy enough to play – I think we can get to UNC only dropping the game to FSU without him.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ole Miss Rebels
Utah Utes
Maryland Terrapins
Oregon State Beavers
Fresno State Bulldogs
Marshall Thundering Herd First 5 out: Liberty, Air Force, Kansas, Kansas State, Wisconsin
