Dawg-Bite Ballot for 2022 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 17, 2022, 12:28 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Head 2 head, eye test, results, resume.

Rank Team Reason
Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee now has the best team in the country. Sketchy defense aside, their offense looks unstoppable and I think they DESERVE this spot as of right now
Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan Wolverines Michigan played murder ball against a Penn State team I thought was pretty solid. They now have a statement win almost on par with UGA’s win over Oregon
Clemson Tigers Clemson just continues to rack up wins over decent to good teams and I feel their resume earns them a spot at #4
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State’s best win is against a Notre Dame team that lost to Marshall and Stanford. Every opponent they’ve played has been completely terrible so far, and I’m not giving Ohio State the stupid excuse of “They have no control over who’s good on their schedule.” Neither does literally any other team in college football. It just so happens they got a booty resume rn, and I’m not rewarding them for it when everyone else has some good wins now
Alabama Crimson Tide
UCLA Bruins
TCU Horned Frogs
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss seems kinda skeptical to me. All this talk about Ole Miss possibly beating Bama and having a shot at the playoff and yada yada yada, but I just don’t know if this team is truly that good yet. They are still pretty good and they are undefeated, so I’m not gonna knock em for it
Wake Forest Demon Deacons #11-12 were extremely close and similar for me, so I ranked them off who had the better loss believe it or not. All their wins are pretty similar imo, and I feel a 2OT loss to #4 is better than 49-3 and a 2OT L to #8
Oklahoma State Cowboys 2OT L better than 49-3 L
Oregon Ducks
Syracuse Orange Syracuse is undefeated, but they still feel very much like a team that can lose a couple games. They’ve done extremely well so far, and if they lose against Clemson I still think they’re a top 25 team. If they win tho 👀
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State got thoroughly beaten by Michigan, but tbh it just felt like a game similar to Oregon vs UGA. Penn State just so happened to run into what I think was and is an elite buzz saw of a team at its very best, so I’m not gonna knock Penn State way too much for that. They’re still a good team.
Utah Utes I juggled with the idea that maybe Kentucky and LSU should be ahead of Utah given the fact that those two beat Florida and the Utes could not, but honestly I just feel like it’s unfair to Utah and I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt after beating a really good USC team
USC Trojans
Tulane Green Wave Head 2 head over Kansas State
Kansas State Wildcats
Texas Longhorns
Illinois Fighting Illini I felt like Illinois was one of those pretender 1 loss teams last week, but they 100% proved me wrong this week.
Cincinnati Bearcats I was thinking of putting Cincy ahead of Illinois because of the fact that they beat Indiana and Illinois didn’t, but after some thought I feel like Illinois could beat Indiana by multiple scores rn and also Cincinnati has had some struggle wins recently. Cincy really only jumped up because I still feel like if Illinois is ranked Cincy shouldn’t be far off from them.
Purdue Boilermakers
LSU Tigers LSU beat Florida by the exact same margin Kentucky did in the swamp and also beat Miss State by a wider margin as well.
South Carolina Gamecocks Head 2 head over Kentucky (I understand Kentucky didn’t have Levis but I wanna respect my head to head rationale)
Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky didn’t really jump because of the South Carolina head 2 head. I feel like Kentucky might be better than their ranking rn but that’s what’s holding them back in my rankings for now
