DarthYoda2594 Ballot for 2022 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 16, 2022, 8:59 a.m.

Overall Rationale: General ranking thought process is a combination of considering efficiency metrics and quality of resume (recency weighted more heavily). Dropped from last week: NC State (16 – Look mostly feckless without Leary, a 2-loss team with no elite QB to carry them doesn’t warrant a ranking at this point), Mississippi State (17 – Total enigma, lurking close but can’t win as soon as they look like they’re going to break out), Kansas (19), Baylor (21), James Madison (23), Cincinnati (24 – Attrition) New this week: Illinois (19), UNC (20), Purdue (21), Kentucky (22), Oregon State (23), LSU (25). Next few out, in order: Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Maryland, Kansas, UCF, South Alabama, Pitt, South Carolina

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes
Tennessee Volunteers Could really be #1, but I don't see a reason to bump Ohio State off it. Essentially replace Bama in the "Group of 3" tier. Reminder that Pitt allowed 3 2nd half points and took them to OT with a backup QB on 1 leg
Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan Wolverines
Alabama Crimson Tide Real argument for #3 based on last second loss / great performance vs. Now-#2 on the road. Below Michigan, who beat a ranked team this week, and above Clemson (who looked good but against a lesser team) seems fair
Clemson Tigers
TCU Horned Frogs
UCLA Bruins
Ole Miss Rebels
Oklahoma State Cowboys Can't justify dropping them at all, but I guess the inability to close a game is a knock
USC Trojans See #10
Oregon Ducks
Utah Utes
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Kansas State Wildcats
Syracuse Orange
Penn State Nittany Lions
Texas Longhorns
Illinois Fighting Illini
North Carolina Tar Heels
Purdue Boilermakers
Kentucky Wildcats
Oregon State Beavers
Tulane Green Wave
LSU Tigers
