SkiFlashing Ballot for 2022 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 16, 2022, 11:01 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Not losing is the most important thing 99% of the time - strength of schedule does matter, but a team who wins the games in front of them, even winning them ugly, that's more valuable than losing, even against a slightly stronger schedule.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes The only undefeated team yet to look vulnerable in a game this season
Tennessee Volunteers Legit offense led by Hendon Hooker, but some question marks remain over the defence
Georgia Bulldogs Some shakiness at points, but back to comfortable wins each of the last two weeks
Michigan Wolverines Statement win vs PSU, very strong defence and formidable running game
Clemson Tigers Quality wins over Wake and NC State, but still concerned over the strength of the offence against better teams
TCU Horned Frogs Great offense, quality come from behind win vs OkSt, but might not get away with it against a better team
UCLA Bruins Have come into their own, big test next week going to Eugene - question marks linger from South Alabama
Ole Miss Rebels They continue to win - awaiting their first real challenge but avoid Georgia and Tennessee, host Alabama in three games time
Syracuse Orange Statement win against NC State moves them above 1-loss teams - but NC State playing without starting QB. Big test going to Death Valley.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Played TCU very close - were unlucky to go down. Might have a chance at revenge later in the season.
Alabama Crimson Tide Unable to cling on this week - but Bryce Young and Jahmyr Gibbs had great games, still dangerous on offense.
USC Trojans Tough loss this week - however, still went into SLC and played Utah down to the wire.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Looks like a better team than one year ago, despite the loss. Played a great Clemson team into OT.
Oregon Ducks Recovered from the game 1 loss @ Georgia - however, played Wazzu close and not wholly convincing vs Stanford or Arizona.
Illinois Fighting Illini Good win against Minnesota - great defence, but loss to Indiana could come back to hurt them
Kansas State Wildcats Tulane loss looks more palatable now, and three good wins before the bye week
Penn State Nittany Lions Tough loss, a lot of question marks over PSU now - defence needs to improve and offence needs to show more
North Carolina Tar Heels Not an impressive team even in their wins, but Drake Maye has played lights out football, and they keep on winning close regardless
Utah Utes The early loss to Florida costs them - impressive win against USC, but not enough consistency
Kentucky Wildcats Not a big fan, lacking convincing wins - but worst games came w/o Levis so benefit of doubt goes to them
Tulane Green Wave Southern Miss loss a concern, but K-State is a high quality win and have mostly looked impressive
NC State Wolfpack Played Clemson close, but Syracuse loss a concern - loss of Devin Leary offers some leniency
Mississippi State Bulldogs Leachball giveth, Leachball taketh away - losses to LSU and Kentucky both in winnable games, but when they look good they look very good.
Texas Longhorns Texas back status: to be confirmed. Have looked better with Ewers, but close win over ISU casts doubt back on their quality
UCF Knights Very impressive blowout win vs Temple, have looked decisive in most of their games this year - Louisville loss a low point.
