2 Cincinnati Bearcats It was ugly, but Cincinnati ended their match against Tulsa 28-20. I expect the CFP committee will move them down a spot or three
3 Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma moves up during the off week due to Michigan State's loss
4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame : 34, Navy: 6. Notre Dame have Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Stanford left on their schedule
5 Oregon Ducks Oregon played through rainy weather and perhaps only won due to Washington's inept coaching. The end game sequence was a bizarre one. Oregon has not been blowing out opponents, so fans would be right to worry about dropping one more in the three games ahead
6 Oklahoma State Cowboys Oklahoma State got their wish of Baylor dropping another game and also had a 24-3 win over WVU
7 Michigan State Spartans Michigan State were the last undefeated Big 10 team to lose, with a 29-40 loss to the spoilermakers. With Maryland, Ohio State, and Penn State left on their schedule, the Spartans destiny is still very much in their hands.
8 Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State struggled against Nebraska, but came away with a win. They face a tough slate left with Purdue, Michigan. State, and Michigan. If they get through those unscathed, Ohio State will undoutbedly be a top 4 team.
9 Michigan Wolverines Easy W over Indiana. penn State, Maryland, and Ohio State remain on the schedule.
10 Texas A&M Aggies Texas A&M took down Auburn 20-3. Ouch. They'll face a ranked Ole Miss next weekend.
11 Alabama Crimson Tide LSU played Alabama much closer than was anticipating, with the game coming down to a game losing drive from the Tigers. I guess it's good Bama scheduled the old SEC not-a-bye-week-BYE-week with New Mexico State next weekend
12 Wake Forest Demon Deacons A heartbreaking last minute loss against UNC. Wake Forest's poor defense finally caught up with them
13 Houston Cougars Houston allowed South Florida to score 42, more than any other team against them this year, but the Cougars put up 54 to get another W. Houston face Temple, Memphis, and Connecticut before facing (likely) Cincinnati in the AAC championship
14 Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss took care of Liberty and ex-HC Hugh Freeze
15 BYU Cougars 59-14 over Idaho State. GA Southern and USC are left on their schedule
16 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns The Ragin' Cajuns started slow, with a 0-3 score at the half, but came back and had three TD drives in a row in the second half. They have clinched their division, but still have Troy, Liberty, and ULM on the schedule before the conference championship
17 UTSA Roadrunners Meep meep. UTSA took beat UTEP 44-23. We're looking at a UTSA vs. Marshall conference championship, unless Marshall drops the ball coming up.
18 NC State Wolfpack NC State is one game behind Wake Forest in the ACC Atlantic. Guess who they play this coming weekend?
19 Appalachian State Mountaineers 48-14 over Arkansas State. South Alabama, Troy, and GA Southern are left on the regular season schedule
20 Baylor Bears Baylor had a narrow loss to TCU on Saturday, deflating the expectations going into their game against Oklahoma this coming weekend
21 Pittsburgh Panthers Pittsburgh was down against Duke after first quarter, but came back and scored 23 in the second quarter. Final score: 54-29
22 Wisconsin Badgers After a slow start to the season, Wisconsin are on a five game win streak, including a dominant 52-3 win over Rutgers. They are one of four teams with a 4-2 conference record in the Big 10 West, but they have the tiebreakers.
23 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Coastal Carolina got an easy win against Georgia Southern, but their starting quarterback is out indefinitely with an upper body injury (concussion?). They need Appalachian State to drop a game and to win out to get to the Sunbelt Conference Championship game
24 San Diego State Aztecs San Diego State jump back into the rankings with a 17-10 win over Hawaii. They face a tough schedule ahead with both Nevada and Boise State. Nevada will be a matchup for who controls the Mountain West West
25 Iowa State Cyclones Iowa State have been inconsistent this season, but looked dominant in a 30-7 win over Texas
