Overall Rationale: Due to week 1 small sample size, weighting is a mix of resume vs power rank. Notably, Oregon and Oklahoma have dropped even with wins; Wisconsin and Miami both are removed from top 25 even though they are likely good enough to be in top 25 (yet for some reason im keeping winless Clemson in the top 10). Momentum is extremely high early in the season. Several teams will continue to change and move drastically; movement of 10+ spots for the first few weeks is to be expected for a large amount of teams as we calibrate throughout the beginning of the season.

This one is controversial; theres plenty of people who feel like this is too low, plenty of people who feel like they shouldnt be ranked until they win. I polled several friends to see how they feel about Clemson and they overwhelming answer, which i agree with: Its week 1, this is gonna change drastically throughout the season, dont worry. This is a prime example of poll inertia though. Without knowing anything about any teams coming into the season, theres NO WAY Clemson should be ranked after a loss; the real truth though is that Clemson is still most likely a top 5 team, and DEFINITELY a top 10 team. |
