DarkLegend64 Ballot for 2021 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 7, 2021, 11:41 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Tier System. It's early in the system so it's going to be more fluid than it will be later in the season.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide S Tier. They're the only team that did not show any flaws in their first game.
Georgia Bulldogs A Tier. Great defense. Offense needs work. But the win over Clemson elevates them to the top of the A Tier.
Ohio State Buckeyes A Tier. A lot of potential. CJ Stroud and the defense will need to be more consistent but they should get better as they year goes along as they get more experience.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish B Tier. They allowed FSU to come back and force OT but still came out with the win. They played in a tough road environment in their first game so they ended up raising when other teams looked worse in more favorable environments.
Oklahoma Sooners B Tier. Nearly lost to G5 team Tulane and did so at home. They would have dropped more if not for other teams also having suspect performances.
Cincinnati Bearcats B Tier. Destroyed Miami (OH). However, I consider the MAC to be the worst FBS conference so there is not much to take away from the win.
Texas A&M Aggies B Tier. Blew out a MAC team but three interceptions from their starting QB shows they have some work to do.
Clemson Tigers B Tier. Their OL is a hot pile of poo. Luckily for them, they won't face another team anywhere close to as good as Georgia for the rest of the remainder of the regular season. Or maybe it's unlucky as that also means they won't be able to get any good resume boosting wins either.
Iowa Hawkeyes C Tier. Their QB is not good but they have a great defense.
Penn State Nittany Lions C Tier. Pulled out a tough win at Wisconsin. Their offense was inconsistent but their defense shut down Wisconsin in the red zone.
Texas Longhorns C Tier. They beat what should be a good Louisiana team by 20.
USC Trojans C Tier. They beat defending MWC champion San Jose State by 23. They might be the Pac 12 front runner now.
Iowa State Cyclones C Tier. They had a close win against an FCS team which I know is what they usually do but I can't make exceptions for them when it comes to dropping teams for barely beating FCS teams.
Florida Gators C Tier
Oregon Ducks C Tier. Nearly lost to Fresno State. Big test coming this week.
UCLA Bruins D Tier. They upset LSU and jump into my ballot.
Wisconsin Badgers D Tier
Virginia Tech Hokies D Tier. They upset UNC so they jump into my ballot.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers D Tier
UCF Knights E Tier
Miami Hurricanes E Tier. They got blown out by Alabama but I feel almost every team would have been blown out by them at this point. Miami could still turn out to be a bad team but we won't know that for sure until we get further into the season.
Ole Miss Rebels E Tier. Louisville is a bad team but Ole Miss's defense seems much improved. If that's the case, they could be a threat in the SEC.
Michigan Wolverines E Tier. Blew out a MAC team. As mentioned earlier, I consider the MAC to be the worst FBS conference so I can't put too much stock into Michigan's win. We may have to wait a bit to find out if Michigan is good again as Washington got dumped by a FCS team.
Michigan State Spartans E Tier. They dominated a probably bad Northwestern team but if I'm going to let Michigan back into my ballot, it's only fair that MSU gets in too as I'd put more stock in a win over Northwestern than I would in a win over WMU. Their new RB looked great.
LSU Tigers E Tier. Is UCLA good or is LSU bad? It could go either way and if it turns out to be the latter, Coach O's seat is going to get warm.
