DampFrijoles Ballot for 2020 Week F

Ballot Type: Hybrid

Submitted: Oct. 11, 2020, 8:04 p.m.

Overall Rationale: There is a three-part method I use to determine my rankings. Note: my rankings only factor in teams that have played at least one game.1)  I start by adding the results of the AP and Coaches polls (using the 25 to 1 system) together and then getting the average. I also add in the results of teams that receive votes in those polls, and I determine their "score" by dividing the number of votes they received by the number of votes the 25th team eligible (that have played at least one game) received. For example, Coastal Carolina was "#25" when removing the ranked teams from the B1G and Pac-12, and they received 37 votes. UAB was "#26" and received 29 votes. I divided 29 by 37 (.76) to give them their score.2) I do the same as the human polls but with the BCS computer polls plus one outside computer poll. However, three of these polls are currently not producing rankings so they will not be factored in until they do. 3) I add the human and computer scores and average them into a "total score" that I tinker with using my own eye test. However, I don't stray too far from the combined human/computer ranking, usually a maximum of +/- three spots. I can't really give a reasoning for my changes, but it involves looking at teams' results, common opponents, and just a gut feeling based on seeing them play.Side note: a team must also have received votes in a human and computer poll to be eligible, although this in practice means that this is only the teams in the AP and Coaches polls.
