coogs35 Ballot for 2020 Week F

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers That showing against Miami was very impressive. Miami likely isn't as good as we thought, but that doesn't mean Clemson didn't look elite. Its hard to find a flaw in this Clemson team.
Georgia Bulldogs Based off what we've seen this far I can't justify putting Bama ahead of Georgia. The Bulldogs made Auburn look like an FCS team and then put the clamps on Tennessee. On the other side Bama's defense is terrible. That being said, this weekend we find out if the Dawgs have FINALLY gotten over the Tide.
Alabama Crimson Tide In normal seasons I'd have Bama lower than 3 at this point. They are practically Oklahoma right now. Maybe their defense improves, but that's yet to be seen.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish They've beaten the teams on their schedule and convincingly. I'm excited to see them go up against better competition here soon.
Oklahoma State Cowboys This is another team who's ranking says more about CFB not having elite teams than it does about Oklahoma State actually being #5.
North Carolina Tar Heels Same as OK State. They look good, and may be the 6th best team in the nation, but they are very far behind the top.
Texas A&M Aggies Hard to fault them for losing big to Bama, I have a feeling most teams who play Bama will. Their team look much improved against Florida. They probably are one of the best teams in this 2020 version of the SEC. That being said, I think the depth of the SEC is much worse than usual.
SMU Mustangs 4-0 and looking good. They've lost their star RB and WR so we will see if they can keep it up. There aren't many teams that have looked definitively better than SMU.
Florida Gators 3 point road loss to TAMU. That really isn't a huge strike against Florida if they can fix their defense and keep winning. The Georgia game is going to mean everything once again for Florida.
Cincinnati Bearcats I'm not sold on this Cincinnati offense yet. They look great on defense, but that might not be enough for them. Regardless, they are undefeated and have earned a ranking this high.
BYU Cougars Poor showing vs UTSA but they have a chance to prove themselves against a hungry Houston team. Must win game for BYU.
Miami Hurricanes Honestly I'm pretty disappointed with how the Canes looked against Clemson. I didn't expect them to win, but I also didn't expect them to put up a worse fight than Virginia. This team probably ends up losing 3-4 games.
Ohio State Buckeyes I don't want to over rank a team that hasn't played yet. Ohio State can definitely climb and climb quickly once they get playing.
Tennessee Volunteers I debated putting them higher. In the first half Tennessee looked like a legit top 10 team. In the second half they looked like Arkansas/Auburn. This Tennessee team realistically could finish higher than Florida in the SEC East.
Penn State Nittany Lions Until they play I don't want to put them higher than anyone else.
Marshall Thundering Herd Honestly I don't know how Marshall isn't getting more attention at this point.
Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Another underrated team at this point. I don't know how Iowa State is getting more attention than the undefeated team who beat them 31-14.
Iowa State Cyclones Iowa State seems improved from their season opener. 3-0 in the Big 12 is great, especially with the Oklahoma win.
Kansas State Wildcats Without Thompson I think they are in trouble. Hopefully their freshman can fill his shoes reasonably well.
Virginia Tech Hokies Their offense looked good, but that defense was horrendous. The Beamer days are long gone. That being said, this team still could do well in the ACC this season.
Tulsa Golden Hurricane A close loss to Oklahoma State and a solid win over UCF. Hard to find a G5 team who has had a better start to their year. Even with the loss Tulsa still deserves to be ranked.
Houston Cougars Only 1-0, but after they awoke from their slumber to a 7-24 defecit they came out on fire against Tulane. This team has talent and ended that game 42-7. They are good, but the game against BYU will be very telling for both Cougars.
Memphis Tigers The close loss to SMU hurts, but Memphis still has plenty of opportunities to prove themselves.
Oregon Ducks With all of the opt outs I'm not sure Oregon is firmly ahead of the entire pac-12 anymore. I think Oregon, Washington, Cal, ASU, and USC are all right around each other's level heading into the season.
USC Trojans This is the season for Helton to prove himself. They should be good, but their schedule is very easy as well. May not truly test this USC team before the Pac 12 championship game. That means any loss would be brutal for their expectations.
