moistats_ Ballot for 2019 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 30, 2019, 11:42 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Top 4 seeds are given to teams that have shown the best performance in conjunction with projected chance of making the CFP. The next 10 are those who are notable enough for discussion and eligible for NY6. Note: The rest of the top 10 are given to 1 G5 team, the P5 runner-ups, and any applicable independent schools. If any of those teams are not worthy of the ranking, they will go down to the next tier in lieu of a more deserving team. The remaining 11 are those who have been and should be performing amazing in the season. There is no bias at all (i.e., conference affiliation, athletes, etc. are not used - just who is the best in order in my opinion). As such, no statistical methods are used other than references that may contain data, such as ESPN FPI and Wikipedia.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes The win at Nebraska was yet another blowout. Ohio State has blown out literally every team that the Buckeyes went against (>= 21 points). Alabama and Clemson not blowing out there opponents is what leveraged OSU to No. 1.
Alabama Crimson Tide Their win against Ole Miss is less embarrassing than Clemson's win against North Carolina.
Clemson Tigers All  I can say is...jesus almighty.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma needs dominant wins against Kansas State, Oklahoma State, or Texas for me to be convinced that they truly belong in the Top 4. Oklahoma is the gatekeeper team as of now.
Auburn Tigers Did what they needed to do against Mississippi State.
Georgia Bulldogs Bye
LSU Tigers Bye
Penn State Nittany Lions Holy mother of god. Good shit Penn State. Looking more like LSU/Georgia/Auburn/Wisconsin-ish
Wisconsin Badgers Very weird win against Northwestern. Luckily the few teams below were basically on byes. Penn State moves up due to this.
Florida Gators Did what they needed to do. I think I put them down a little than they deserve, and they gotta get ready for the Auburn game.
Boise State Broncos Bye
Oregon Ducks Bye
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Good win against Virginia, but not enough to move them up imo
Texas Longhorns Bye
Wake Forest Demon Deacons WAAAAAAAAKE. I'm more impressed with Wake's resume than Iowa's as well. I don't  think it's appropriate to move them above the notable one loss teams until they get a top 25 win (probably).
Iowa Hawkeyes Nice win over Middle Tennessee, but not enough to move them up like Notre Dame's
Memphis Tigers What an amazing comeback for Memphis. Good stuff Tigers.
Virginia Cavaliers Tough team they faced, but it looks like they can handle going against a Top 25 team. I'm excited for this Virginia team in the future. Keep it up.
Utah Utes Moving on up with the win against Washington State!
Washington Huskies Very good win against USC that has shown progress towards to the Top 25. Enough to override UCF and Michigan.
UCF Knights Blew out UConn...at home...yay?
Michigan Wolverines Blew out Rutgers...at home...yay?
SMU Mustangs Blew out USF away? Woah what is this team? Pony up!
Appalachian State Mountaineers RANK APP STATE? HELL YEA.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Not super excited for this Minnesota team, but I feel that we should at least recognize their undefeated record (and the win at Fresno State I felt was really good)
