W_Is_For_Will Ballot for 2018 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 7, 2018, 9:23 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Originally I had planned on reviewing teams based on the scoreboard. Win's over everything and quality of the wins can dictate location on the top 25. It has been fun ranking all teams with undefeated records and analyzing what I believe to be the best wins of the week but now I have stumbled upon a curious question, "If I rank teams based on that week's wins and the quality of those wins will I end up with a final year end poll that determines the appropriate final four?" After the preparation of these polls I will work out a way to prepare an adjusted poll which includes the average team rankings from my week to week rankings. This should be a good indicator of who I truly believe has the hardest schedule and best overall season performance.

Rank Team Reason
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Undefeated, beat a conference oppo... I mean a top 25 ranked ACC team. But lets be real, they're basically in the ACC outside of their OOC marquee matchups/rivalry games.
Ohio State Buckeyes Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Indiana is a quiet 4-2 team right now, that's different.
Alabama Crimson Tide Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Laid the wood on an Arky team that is not very Wooo and much less Sooie.
Georgia Bulldogs Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Could Vanderbilt get a bowl game this year? Maybe, I think they would beat Wake Forest but not Arky if given the chance.
Clemson Tigers Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Wakey Leaks is a thing of the past.
Cincinnati Bearcats Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Cincy is sticking around if they keep winning but I checked their schedule and the bulk of it is showing up with some tough road games and UCF coming to town soon. We'll see what happens.
NC State Wolfpack Undefeated, beat a solid conference opponent. Beat a 4-2 Boston College that I was high on to begin the season, now it looks like I am high on NC State.
Colorado Buffaloes Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Is Colorado good or is it their laughable schedule? Next week will determine if they stay on the rankings with a trip to U$C.
West Virginia Mountaineers Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Country Roads continue to take WVU home, perhaps Kansas may have something special on defense this year with the amount of takeaways.
USF Bulls Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. Minute men? More like, not-good-enough-to-win men.
UCF Knights Undefeated, beat a conference opponent. SMU is in rebuild with Dykes running things. Not too impressed.
Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors Welcome back Hawaii, next best record in college football at 6-1. Starting below we dive into the meatier part of the rankings.
Florida Gators 5-1, Defeated a top 5 ranked LSU. Not sure what went on in this game but defense came out to play 4/13 and 4/17 on third downs for each team. Burrows doesn't appear to have played a good game, probably couldn't handle the swamp.
Texas Longhorns 5-1, Defeated a Top 10 ranked Oklahoma. Yeah, OU was about to come back and win it all for some reason. I have no clue what lead Texas to take their foot off the gas or for Mike Stoops to suddenly start calling good defense. I assume Tim and Mike have something going on that causes them both to remained employed.
Michigan Wolverines 5-1, Defeated conference opponent. Beat Maryland, which is something that Texas couldn't do but the ranked win prevents me from putting Michigan higher this week.
Miami Hurricanes 5-1 Defeated conference opponent. Barely beat a middling 3-3 FSU that is a joke of a team this year? Not really, FSU came out working but the U made the right adjustments by the look of it and it was enough to bring them back and stop the FSU offense. Also, 13/32 for N. Perry and 4 of those passes were TDs? Were his receivers not catching anything?
Washington State Cougars 5-1 Defeated conference opponent. I think OrSU is a decent team that is still trying to find their identity as an FBS pac-12 team. Perhaps one day they'll get it all together.
Troy Trojans 5-1 Defeated conference opponent. Could Troy beat UCLA? They beat a terrible Nebraska, I believe that they could beat a terrible UCLA too.
Buffalo Bulls 5-1 Defeated conference opponent. Ran for 291 on the ground and collected 4 picks from the Central Michigan QB and they still gave up 24 points? Makes no sense at all.
North Texas Mean Green 5-1 Defeated conference opponent. Man, nearly letting a winless team get the best of you does not instill confidence. Perhaps a wake up call for the Mean Green.
Washington Huskies 5-1 Defeated conference opponent if you could call them that. Still scheduling cupcakes I see.
Utah State Aggies 4-1 Defeated an FBS opponent. Mormon In State Rivalry remix. Impressive wins deserve praise especially from the little programs.
Iowa Hawkeyes 4-1 Defeated conference opponent. Wait, Iowa threw the ball nearly 40 times in a game?
UAB Blazers 4-1 Defeated conference opponent. TOP was literally 30 minutes for each team, that's a funky stat to see. UABs defense went to work today.
Wisconsin Badgers 4-1 Defeated a team that showed up when requested.
