T-Thugs Ballot for 2017 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 2, 2017, 6:24 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Defending champs have impressive wins over Auburn, Virginia Tech, and Louisville.
Alabama Crimson Tide It feels like we are heading for a third Clemson/Bama final. Alabama is dominating opponents. I don't think the quality of their competition is quite as good as Clemson's, but they look damn good.
Georgia Bulldogs Laid the beatdown on Tennessee this week. Tennessee stinks, but that looked good. Mississippi State win also looks a little less impressive. Their win over Notre Dame looks like it might turn out to be a great win.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma had the week off, but they stay high thanks to their win over Ohio State. Buckeyes won 56-0 this weekend.
Michigan Wolverines It pains me to keep Michigan here. Their win over Florida remains solid as the Gators keep winning, though. Win over Purdue is ok.
Washington State Cougars Washington State makes a huge jump in my poll with their win over USC. I was comparing them to Washington for placement and had a hard time ranking them below Washington when their best wins are USC or Colorado, respectively. Both stomped Oregon State.
Miami Hurricanes This may be a little bit high, but I had Duke ranked pretty highly due to their 4-0 record (3 of which were over p5 teams). Miami stomped them this weekend. They play Florida State this coming weekend, and should win. They likely will be 7-0 going into games with Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.
Washington Huskies Washington's best win (Colorado) looks a little bit less impressive this week. They crushed Oregon State over the weekend.
TCU Horned Frogs Oklahoma State struggled a bit with Texas Tech this weekend, but it still remains a solid win. TCU plays West Virginia next weekend, with a chance to get a second quality win and move up even more.
Penn State Nittany Lions Looked dominant over IU. Struggled with Iowa last week, and that gives me a little pause. Michigan State seemed to handle Iowa. Things happen, though. They play Northwestern before a huge matchup with Michigan.
Auburn Tigers Only loss is to Clemson in a close game, and Clemson has dominated some other good teams. Crushed Mississippi State this week.
USC Trojans Wins over Stanford, Texas, and Cal keep the Trojans here. They're a solid team. Only loss is to Washington State.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame laid a beating on a bad Miami(OH) team. Their loss to Georgia is not bad. Their best win is a solid beating of Michigan State who handled Iowa this week. I jumped them over Florida this week because Florida's win over Tennessee is less impressive after the beating they got from Georgia.
UCF Knights Big wins over Maryland and and Memphis.
Florida Gators Wins over Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky. Beat by Michigan. Tennessee looks pretty awful and Vanderbilt got destroyed by Alabama.
San Diego State Aztecs 5-0 with wins over Stanford and Arizona State.
Louisville Cardinals Only loss is to Clemson. Got kinda whooped, though. Still lacking a really great win.
USF Bulls Lots of blowout wins over weak opponents.
Ohio State Buckeyes Absolutely destroyed Rutgers, but those guys stink. They lost their only game to a decent opponent. I'll move them up a few spots after they beat Maryland next week. Will jump them up big time if they can beat Penn State at the end of the month.
Wisconsin Badgers How do you rank a team that plays absolutely nobody? Honestly, I think this is a pretty good team with an embarrassingly bad schedule. They are the only decent team in the Big Ten West. They don't play Ohio State or Penn State this year. Their entire season is built around playing Michigan in November. They don't even have to play Michigan State this year. Wisconsin very well may be a solid team, but I refuse to rank this team higher until I've seen that they can compete with a real opponent. Next week they play Nebraska. This will not prove anything.
Utah Utes Undefeated and lacking quality wins.
Virginia Tech Hokies They took a beating from Clemson, but many teams would take beatings from Clemson. Still have a solid win over West Virginia.
NC State Wolfpack Bad loss to South Carolina but they have zero other losses and have a decent win over Florida State.
Oregon Ducks Decent win over Cal this week. Their loss to Arizona State hurts. Lots of teams are in a similar spot with either a really bad loss or a lack of quality wins.
Navy Midshipmen Undefeated against bad opponents. Big games coming up for them against Air Force and Memphis.
