Knightro2011 Ballot for 2017 Week 6

Ballot Type: Computer

Rank Team Reason
UTSA Roadrunners By less than .002, the UTSA Roadrunners have the #1 ranking over Bama. I will be interested in seeing how they do against tougher opponents in the C-USA.By efficiency, UTSA has the best defense in the country plus their undefeated record carried them by that much over Bama. I don't see this sticking and is the only real outlier listed.
Alabama Crimson Tide Top 20 on offense, top 10 on defense and the only team to do that.Roll Tide
Washington Huskies The Huskies have the #3 defense and are #32 on offensive efficiency. They were also very close to Bama.
Georgia Bulldogs Dawgs have the #10 offense because like a good neighbor, Jake Fromm is there.
Miami Hurricanes The Canes have the #2 offensive efficiency and the 42nd ranked defensive efficiency. Game against Duke helped them in that department.
Penn State Nittany Lions #36 rank on offensive efficiency, #9 on defense
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma is #7 in defensive efficiency just like their rank. However, they are 50th on offense. The week off may have hurt that on top of their strength of schedule being awful outside of Ohio State.
USF Bulls USF is ranked 5th in defensive efficiency, but 69th in defensive efficiency. Record is carrying them here from what I see in formula.
UCF Knights UCF is #1 in offensive efficiency and 60th on defense. Record and lack of poor games played helping them into the #9 spot.
Wisconsin Badgers 55th on offense, 10th on defense
Clemson Tigers Clemson is 27th in offensive efficiency and 24th on defense. However what I have seen on offense using the eye test. They make a couple big plays a game but can't keep the pedal to the metal.
Michigan Wolverines 11th on defense plus an undefeated record keeps them high. Wolverines have the 77th best offensive efficiency.
Washington State Cougars 94th on offensive efficiency, 12th on defense. Looking at the numbers, USC was their best game offensively. Other than that, they have not been efficient with their worst game week before against Nevada.
Utah Utes 2nd ranked defense puts them high. Offense ranking is one of the worst.
Kansas State Wildcats 4th ranked defense and offense is one spot behind Michigan
Ohio State Buckeyes 12th ranked offense and 36th ranked defense keeps them up high. The 1 loss and not so great schedule keeps them low.
Auburn Tigers 6th ranked defense and great game vs Clemson gives them good positioning. 89th ranked offense and 1 loss keeps it lower.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 18th ranked offense and 41st ranked defense keeps them high. 1 loss drags them down although it is a quality loss.
San Diego State Aztecs Aztecs are 64th ranked offense and 39th ranked defense. An undefeated record with wins over 2 P5 teams puts them in top 25.
Oregon Ducks 15th ranked offense and 51st ranked defense is solid for Puddles. 1 loss barely puts them ahead of Oklahoma State and TCU.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Yes, Oklahoma State lost to TCU and the Horned Frogs are undefeated. However, the Pokes are the 13th ranked offense and 56th on defense (that's one spot ahead of TCU). Pokes have two really good defensive games that help them. Pokes are .0106 points ahead of TCU.
TCU Horned Frogs So, TCU's rankings are 44th on offense and 57th on defense. Super close in the rankings and I think overall TCU will be ahead of the Pokes.
Louisville Cardinals Louisville is 35th on defense and 42nd on offense. They are well behind TCU/Oklahoma State.
Navy Midshipmen 38th ranked defense and 84th ranked offense. Navy's undefeated ranking has them just behind Louisville.
West Virginia Mountaineers The Mountaineers close out the top 25 with the 20th ranked defense and 66th ranked offense. For reference, VT (who beat West Virginia) is 66th on offense and 46th on defense.
