hokies220 Ballot for 2017 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 1, 2017, 11:54 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Try to be resume based as much as I can. It's not a perfect system though. Must have winning record, wins against FCS don't count, top four are who I'd pick right now.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Unquestionably has the best resume. If you take that into account and you don't have Clemson at #1 then you're just wrong.
Alabama Crimson Tide Argument could be made that Georgia has a better resume. However both teams are murdering their opponents and I trust Bama more.
TCU Horned Frogs SMU is going to turn out to be a good win. And OK State did them a solid by winning in Lubbock.
Penn State Nittany Lions I went back and forth on who to put here because PSU's best win just took another loss this week and other than that the schedule isn't all that impressive. But overall probably better than either Washington team.
Georgia Bulldogs Next best team out. Likely won't be tested til the end of October.
Oklahoma Sooners Should be a gimme game against ISU then the schedule hardens considerably.
Washington State Cougars Huge huge huge win for the Cougs over USC. With Oregon's entire team being injured in their win over Cal next week could get ugly.
Michigan Wolverines The Florida win is helping prop them up. Helping because the defense is still doing most of the work themselves.
Washington Huskies Colorado losing didn't help, but with the solid way they're playing it makes up for the soft schedule.
UCF Knights What? UCF? What is this guy smoking? Did you know they have a top 10 scoring offense and scoring defense? Did you know that FIU, Maryland, and Memphis are a combined 9-0 outside of their games with the Knights? Frost has turned things around quicker than anyone expected and UCF is playing lights out, smart, sound football.
Miami Hurricanes Probably way too high because I was way too high on Duke, but that was an impressive win on the road and I'd say they're the team to beat in the Coastal.
Wisconsin Badgers Pretty lackluster schedule and performance against Northwestern, but a win is a win.
USC Trojans Even with the loss they still have a fairly decent resume and the south division is wide open.
Auburn Tigers Also likely way too high here.
San Diego State Aztecs That Stanford win might be what ends up putting the Aztecs into the NY6.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Survived in Lubbock. Not always easy to do, but this team isn't a top 10 team right now.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ate another cupcake, but conference play should help them rise. Or fall.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Also beat another cupcake.
Florida Gators Played well offensively against Vandy. Yes, let me repeat that. The Gators played well on offense.
USF Bulls The team looks so good now, but the schedule does not.
Virginia Tech Hokies Well. Played better against Clemson than Louisville, but the Hokies are sitting here based on WVU really.
NC State Wolfpack Another conference win looks nice.Three of the next four are Louisville, Notre Dame, and Clemson. Yikes.
Utah Utes Maybe dropped too far on a bye week, but their wins are against terrible teams and now they get an unstoppable Love coming to town before going to play USC. These two weeks will be very telling for the Utes.
Louisville Cardinals Purdue might be decent. UNC sucks. Kent State sucks. Clemson murdered them.
Navy Midshipmen I debated whether to put Navy, WVU, Duke, or Troy here. Decided on Navy for no particular reason.
