Chris-P-Creme Ballot for 2017 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 1, 2017, 10:24 p.m.

Overall Rationale: I use wins, schedule, and s&p+ profile in my rationale. What I think are ties are usually broken with x-factor players (I.e. an explosive QB or RB) and quality of play in the trenches (though this is more closely tied with my overall rankings than just tiebreaking).

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Bama and Clemson are neck and neck and there is a sizable gap between them. However, I think the story can be told through looking at Clemson's performance vs BC and comparing it to Alabama's performance vs Vandy. Bama laid to waste a Vandy team that places higher than BC in both offensive and defensive s&p+ rankings. Clemson did not destroy BC in the same way. Obviously Clemson has better wins, but as of right now I'm going to side with Bama until they stop completely obliterating their competition.
Clemson Tigers
Oklahoma Sooners
Penn State Nittany Lions
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia has better wins, but Washington has a much better offense while Georgia has an only slightly better defense. Both Georgia's rushing and passing success rate are around 40%, while Washington's rushing success rate comes in at 50% with a passing success rate of 58.7%. That being said, Georgia is a bit more explosive in both offensive facets, with passing and rushing isoPPP both superseding those of Washington. Overall I take Washington's offense as being superior, but their special teams have been a major liability (-0.4 s&p+ rating and ranked 92 in the country), meanwhile UGA's special teams are ranked #1 in the country in s&p+. It's close, but UGA's wins put them above UW.
Washington Huskies
TCU Horned Frogs
Washington State Cougars
Wisconsin Badgers
Michigan Wolverines
Ohio State Buckeyes
Virginia Tech Hokies VT moved the ball on Clemson better than Auburn, and Auburn held Clemson better. I'd be tempted to side with Auburn because they did so @Clemson, but the West Virginia win is hard to ignore.
Auburn Tigers
Miami Hurricanes Still not really sure what to do with these guys, but they haven't looked bad yet so whatever. Also, impressive win over Duke.
Oklahoma State Cowboys OSU and USC have incredibly similar resumes and s&p+ rankings (USC is pretty good in everything while OSU has a ridiculous offense, an okay defense, and not good ST), so I went with the better QB in Rudolph.
USC Trojans
San Diego State Aztecs
Louisville Cardinals
Florida Gators
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
West Virginia Mountaineers Grier is the truth, but the schedule is lacking. I have a feeling WVU will move up over the course of the season, but we will see.
UCF Knights
USF Bulls
Utah Utes Not very convinced by Utah's wins yet; time will tell. Same with USF tbh.
NC State Wolfpack
