For each pair, if A has beaten B more times head-to-head, record a simulated win for A; if B has more, give B the win. If head-to-head is absent or split, compare transitive wins: count teams x such that A beat x and x beat B, and teams y such that B beat y and y beat A. Higher count gets the win.* *If still tied, look two steps out (A > x > x' > B vs. B > y > y' > A), then three steps, and so on.* *Rank by these simulated records. Split the list into two groups: teams above .250 and teams at or below .250 (use the season’s full results each time).* *Recurse on each group separately, repeating the round-robin simulation and split until every subset is a single team; concatenate the subgroup orders for the final ranking.*
