HieloLuz Ballot for 2025 Week 14

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 23, 2025, 4:14 p.m.

Overall Rationale: I use a computer ranking which is a pure resume based points system. Teams are assigned a tier based on their rating (1-7). Points are gained for wins, subtracted for losses, based on the opponents tier. Small modifiers for game closeness and SOS based on Opponent's record. | I use this to sort teams into buckets, then give ranks based primarily on quality wins (top 50 teams), worst losses, and head to head. | | | | Week 13 | Biggest Risers: T136= UTSA (+20) , T25= SMU (+11) | Biggest Drop: T136= Cal (-24) , T25= Houston (-25) | New teams: Virginia, Wake Forest, Houston | Dropped from rankings: Louisville (13), Illinois (23), Iowa (25) | Next 5: East Carolina, Louisville, Navy, Illinois, Pitt | Worst Team UMass (-327.295) | | | | Playoff projections *Conference Autobid | | Rose: 1. Indiana* | Sugar: 4. Georgia | Cotton: 3. Texas A&M* | Orange: 2. Ohio State | 5 v 12: 15. North Texas* @ 5. Texas Tech* | 6 v 11: 11. Miami (FL)* @ 6. Notre Dame | 7 v 10: 10. Oregon @ 7. BYU | 8 v 9: 9. Oklahoma @ 8. Ole Miss | | | |

Rank Team Reason
Indiana Hoosiers Quality Wins: Oregon |2|, Old Dominion |4|, Kennesaw State |4|, Illinois |4|, Iowa |4| Losses: None Indiana holds the #1 spot thanks to 5 total quality wins.
Ohio State Buckeyes Quality Wins: Texas |3|, Washington |3|, Illinois |4| Losses: None Bucket B ↓
Texas A&M Aggies Quality Wins: Notre Dame |2|, LSU |4|, Missouri |4| Losses: None Holds onto the #3 spot due to being undefeated, but every other team in this bucket (and most of the next) have better wins. They are significantly lower in points compared to the top 2 due to having 4 close games against bad teams.
Georgia Bulldogs Quality Wins: Ole Miss |2|, Tennessee |3|, Texas |3| Losses: Alabama |2| Wins are slightly better than Texas Tech and loss is significantly better.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Quality Wins: BYU |2|, Utah |3|, Houston |4| Losses: Arizona State |4| See Georgia.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Quality Wins: USC |3|, Navy |3|, Pitt |3|, Boise State |4|, NC State |4| Losses: Miami (FL) |2|, Texas A&M |2| They have the most quality wins of anyone in this bucket, but none of them are playoff caliber teams, and the 2 losses cannot be overlooked. Bucket C ↓
BYU Cougars Quality Wins: Utah |3|, East Carolina |4|, Arizona |4|, Iowa State |4|, TCU |4|, Cincinnati |4| Losses: Texas Tech |2| A huge mass of quality wins which is the most of anyone. A lot of close games should lower them, but Ole Miss also has a lot of close calls, and they are the clear top 2 of this bucket.
Ole Miss Rebels Quality Wins: Oklahoma |2|, Tulane |3|, LSU |4| Losses: Georgia |2| H2H results help a lot despite worse wins than Oklahoma and Alabama, and a number of close games.
Oklahoma Sooners Quality Wins: Alabama |2|, Michigan |3|, Tennessee |3|, Missouri |4| Losses: Ole Miss |2|, Texas |3| Mostly placed here due to H2H results.
Oregon Ducks Quality Wins: USC |3|, Iowa |4| Losses: Indiana |1| They picked up a much needed quality win last week against USC, but they are still a hard team to rank due to the lack of data points to look at. They have blown out almost every other team they've played.
Alabama Crimson Tide Quality Wins: Georgia |2|, Vanderbilt |3|, Tennessee |3|, Missouri |4|, LSU |4| Losses: Oklahoma |2|, Florida State |5| Lots of quality wins but H2H keeps them lower. Loss to Florida State also hurts a lot, but their wins will keep them ahead of Miami.
Miami Hurricanes Quality Wins: Notre Dame |2|, USF |3|, NC State |4| Losses: SMU |3|, Louisville |4| A couple of solid wins, but the 2 losses are the worst of this bucket along with Alabama. Bucket D ↓
Utah Utes Quality Wins: Arizona State |4|, Cincinnati |4| Losses: Texas Tech |2|, BYU |2| Not the best wins of the bucket, but the best losses by far.
Vanderbilt Commodores Quality Wins: LSU |4|, Missouri |4| Losses: Alabama |2|, Texas |3| Wins are equal to Utah's, but the losses are a bit worse.
North Texas Mean Green Quality Wins: Navy |3| Losses: USF |3| Hard to rank with only 2 meaningful games, but they'v gone 1-1 in them so far, and the only team I would put above them is USC, but 3 losses isn't going to do it.
USC Trojans Quality Wins: Michigan |3|, Iowa |4| Losses: Notre Dame |2|, Oregon |2|, Illinois |4| The best wins of the bucket, but 3 losses, even if 2 are to playoff teams, is hard to move higher.
Michigan Wolverines Quality Wins: Washington |3| Losses: Oklahoma |2|, USC |3| Equal wins to North Texas, but an extra loss, and the H2H loss to USC.
James Madison Dukes Quality Wins: Old Dominion |4| Losses: Louisville |4| See North Texas, but both of JMU's quality opponents are 1 loss from dropping out of quality tier. Bucket E ↓
SMU Mustangs Quality Wins: Miami (FL) |2|, Louisville |4| Losses: Wake Forest |3|, TCU |4|, Baylor |5| They have better wins than USF but worse losses, but both having played a common opponent in Miami keeps SMU higher.
USF Bulls Quality Wins: North Texas |3|, Boise State |4| Losses: Miami (FL) |2|, Navy |3|, Memphis |4| Is above GT and UVA due to having a 2nd quality win, despite the extra loss.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Quality Wins: Wake Forest |3| Losses: Pitt |3|, NC State |4| Only having 1 quality wins and 2 losses at this point is hard to keep very high, and USF won't be punished for losing to a playoff team.
Virginia Cavaliers Quality Wins: Louisville |4| Losses: Wake Forest |3|, NC State |4| See Georgia Tech. They also have a worse win, and the common opponent result in Wake Forest. Bucket F ↓
Texas Longhorns Quality Wins: Oklahoma |2|, Vanderbilt |3| Losses: Ohio State |1|, Georgia |2|, Florida |5| The Florida loss hurts a ton, but they will get to the top of Bucket F thanks to huge Oklahoma win.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Quality Wins: SMU |3|, Virginia |3|, Kennesaw State |4| Losses: Georgia Tech |3|, NC State |4|, Florida State |5| Has some decent wins, but their losses are worse than Texas's by a significant amount.
Navy Midshipmen Quality Wins: Losses: Secures the final top 25 spot due to their losses both being good, and the win over USF is better than any win Tulane has. Other Bucket G teams are: Tulane (has a bad loss, and 5 wins against bad teams that were 1 possession games late), Tennessee (no quality wins), San Diego State (2 bad losses), Pitt (worst loss out of bucket, West Virginia |6|), and Washington (only 1 quality win and a bad loss)
