Overall Rationale: I had to recalibrate entirely. I made a notebook about the top 40 teams I could identify and built it from the bottom up. This notebook turned out to be sentient. It started flirting with my wife! She was more gobsmacked than the UCLA cheerleaders by Nebraska players. I had to burn it. I had to.

1 Texas A&M Aggies I am scared. Scared of how much I love the Aggies. Wins over Notre Dame, Missouri, and largely dominating the rest of the competition. I worry that I’m overranking Notre Dame and Mizzou, and I expect Mizzou to drop down the rankings unless their freshman qb can improve rapidly. Winning so many road games in a row, multiple ranked road games, this is not the usual Aggies. At least not until they lose the next three.
2 Indiana Hoosiers Close win over Penn State. I am not penalizing them for that, Penn State is a talented team that can compete, they just keep falling short. Indiana is 2 rather than 1 because of my changing view of the Aggies more than anything else.
3 Ohio State Buckeyes This is a great team, they could easily be the best team in the country, but they don’t exactly have the pedigree of the two above them. Wins over texas and Minnesota are, at least right now, less impressive than A&Ms wins over ND and Mizzou or Indiana’s wins over Oregon and Iowa.
4 Alabama Crimson Tide The FSU loss gets more confusing by the day.
5 Texas Tech Red Raiders Huge win over BYU. I don’t hold the ASU loss against them particularly much since TTU was without their starting qb.
6 Georgia Bulldogs One of the more solid wins over MS State
7 BYU Cougars TTU is solid, BYU’s overall resume still holds up at this point. They just can’t afford another loss.
8 Ole Miss Rebels I’m worried that I’m underrating Ole Piss, but I’m not particularly upset about doing so.
9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Not the Navy!
10 Oregon Ducks A win is a win and I hold Iowa in reasonably good regard, but certainly not what I expect out of a title contender. That said, Iowa football is a war crime and forces their opponents to play to that.
11 Utah Utes Cincinnati is doing work propping up the Big XII, including Utah. I really worry that I have Utah and BYU ranked too highly.
12 Texas Longhorns We’ll see if arch continues his recent improvement at Georgia. Personally, I hope to see texas lose out.
13 USC Trojans A team I’ve been a bit higher on than most throughout the season. Northwestern isn’t as bad as the past couple of seasons, it’s a solid win.
14 Oklahoma Sooners I think you’re probably over ranked. But I just can’t prove it yet.
15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Surviving by default. Nice!
16 Louisville Cardinals Every time I try and make an argument for you Louisville you go and pull something like that. At home! Baby girl what is you doing
17 Miami Hurricanes Beating up on an orange? Not very Florida of you.
18 Cincinnati Bearcats Somewhat of the base of the Big XII house of cards. They cannot afford a loss to Arizona or TCU.
19 Pittsburgh Panthers 7-2 nice, I’m sure you’ll be able to cruise through the remainder of your- oh. Oh no. Oh pray for these poor bastards.
20 Vanderbilt Commodores Vandy, I’m going to say this as kindly as I can. What the ever loving fuck
21 Virginia Cavaliers Wake? You lose at home to Wake? The same Wake Forest that just got spanked by a hopeless FSU? UVa what the fuck
22 James Madison Dukes Guess who’s narrow path to the playoffs just got a little bit of help? My sweet prince JMU
23 Michigan Wolverines I really don’t trust this team, but they’re more compelling than anyone else so I suppose they should get a number. Not a good number, but a number nonetheless.
24 North Texas Mean Green Falling into the lead of the AAC by default! Congrats! Just don’t pull a Memphis.
25 Tennessee Volunteers I don’t like this team here, but someone has to be. Mizzou really shouldn’t have this slot. Houston lost to mf WVU so I have issue putting them there for now, Iowa just lost a game of football that set the sport back decades. Maybe SMU? All the G5 schools I considered dropped the ball. It may be time to bring back NDSU and let the Bizon compete.
