Overall Rationale: I've lost my mind doing these rankings and realized I'm just a biased person and need to at least recognize that and not be totally biased this week as last week I was way off consensus, which I am fine with but noticed some patters I need to change so this week I won't be doing it based on my own take on CFP or whatever thing I said last week but just my vibes watching these teams for now 9 to 10 games and if I can't do that then I shouldn't be doing this. I also changed my write-ups a bit, if you really care but if you are looking at this you are either mad I ranked your team too low, or I did rank your team high, which I probably did for some of these teams. You also could care about my opinion which I doubt.
| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Ohio State Buckeyes
|
Won 34-10 vs. Purdue. Secured a methodical road victory, throwing for 303 yards. A classic Ohio State win: efficient, dominant, and no drama. They look every bit the #1 team. |
| 2 |
Indiana Hoosiers
|
Won 27-24 at Penn State. Indiana came back to win in a thriller, with the game-winning touchdown pass from QB Fernando Mendoza to Omar Cooper Jr. with 36 seconds left, keeping the Hoosiers undefeated. I think that was one of the best catches I have ever seen in my life. |
| 3 |
Texas A&M Aggies
|
Won 38-17 at Missouri. The defense overwhelmed Mizzou's QB, and the running game sealed the deal. Still perfect and still playing smash-mouth football. That defense is legit. |
| 4 |
Oregon Ducks
|
Won 18-16 at Iowa. Kicker Atticus Sappington drilled a 39-yard field goal in the closing seconds. Survived a grind-it-out road game in a hostile environment and played like a true Big Ten team. |
| 5 |
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
|
BYE WEEK |
| 6 |
Texas Tech Red Raiders
|
Won 29-7 vs. BYU. Dominant performance on both sides to hand BYU its first loss. The transfer portal spending has paid off in big ways. |
| 7 |
Ole Miss Rebels
|
Won 49-0 vs. The Citadel. Delivered a crushing shutout victory and racked up over 600 yards of offense. Light schedule to finish up this being a cupcake. |
| 8 |
Alabama Crimson Tide
|
Won 20-9 vs. LSU. The defense held LSU in check for a decisive home victory. |
| 9 |
BYU Cougars
|
Lost 29-7 at Texas Tech. Suffered their first loss of the season in a blowout on the road. That first loss was a tough one. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back mentally, given what happened down the stretch last year |
| 10 |
Georgia Bulldogs
|
Won 41-21 at Mississippi State. Put up 567 total yards in a strong SEC road performance. This time decided to show up in the second quarter and not just the second half. |
| 11 |
Utah Utes
|
BYE WEEK |
| 12 |
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
|
Won 49-10 vs. Navy. A dominant performance over the Midshipmen. Handled their business with zero issues. An easy win to keep them rolling. |
| 13 |
Louisville Cardinals
|
Lost 29-26 vs. California. Lost a close one at home to the Golden Bears. A frustrating home loss that could really hurt their resume as they now need to win the ACC championship game, which you can say for every ACC team. |
| 14 |
Miami Hurricanes
|
Won 38-10 vs. Syracuse. Defense sparked a second-half blowout win to bounce back. They answered the call after last week's loss, even after a sluggish start to this one. |
| 15 |
Pittsburgh Panthers
|
BYE WEEK |
| 16 |
Texas Longhorns
|
BYE WEEK |
| 17 |
Vanderbilt Commodores
|
Won 45-38 vs. Auburn. Won a high-scoring game at home. Able to fend off an Auburn team that just fired Hugh Freeze. |
| 18 |
Oklahoma Sooners
|
BYE WEEK |
| 19 |
James Madison Dukes
|
Won 35-23 at Marshall. Held off a Marshall rally to extend their win streak to seven. A strong road win to keep their undefeated conference run alive. Very impressive consistency, and my G5 representative. |
| 20 |
North Texas Mean Green
|
BYE WEEK |
| 21 |
Memphis Tigers
|
Lost 38-32 vs. Tulane. Memphis fell behind by 21 points and lost at home on Friday night, dashing their College Football Playoff hopes. |
| 22 |
USF Bulls
|
Won 55-23 vs. UTSA. Scored two defensive TDs before the offense even took the field. That's how you come off a bye! The defense setting the tone like that is huge and keeps them in the AAC mix. |
| 23 |
Michigan Wolverines
|
BYE WEEK |
| 24 |
USC Trojans
|
Won 38-17 vs. Northwestern. The offense found its rhythm, and they had 482 total yards. A convincing win with some offensive highlights. They look like they're staying on track for an outside chance at a CFP bid. |
| 25 |
Virginia Cavaliers
|
Lost 16-9 vs. Wake Forest. Virginia lost a low-scoring game at home to the Demon Deacons. I expected them to drop this one because I didn't think the magic would last, but it has still been a great season. |
